VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Pay much closer attention to the truths

"SINCE ALL this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard,"

Deuteronomy 4:9 (The Message)

4:9 Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don't forget anything of what you've seen. Don't let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you've seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.

Joshua 23:11-12 (The Message)

23:11 "Now, vigilantly guard your souls: Love God, your God.

23:12 Because if you wander off and start taking up with these remaining nations still among you (intermarry, say, and have other dealings with them),

Proverbs 3:21 (The Message)

3:21 Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don't for a minute lose sight of them.

We have wisdom because CHRIST is our Wisdom and Power from GOD. Be always consciuous of JESUS, our Truth (John 14:6) in our lives, pay much closer attention compared at first when we believed.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (Amplified Bible)

1:30 But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our Wisdom from God, [revealed to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as] our Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God], and our Consecration [making us pure and holy], and our Redemption [providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin].

B. Unless in any way we slip from them

"lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away"

Slip is "pararrhueo" in Greek, meaning:

1) to glide by: lest we be carried by, pass by

1a) lest the salvation which these things heard show us how to obtain, slip away from us

1b) a thing escapes me

1c) slips my mind

1. Examples of the 12 Apostles who forgot.

Matthew 16:9 (The Message)

16:9 Haven't you caught on yet? Don't you remember the five loaves of bread and the five thousand people, and how many baskets of fragments you picked up?

Hebrews 12:5 (The Message)

12:5 So don't feel sorry for yourselves. Or have you forgotten how good parents treat children, and that God regards you as his children? My dear child, don't shrug off God's discipline, but don't be crushed by it either.

2 Peter 1:12-13 (The Message)

1:12 Because the stakes are so high, even though you're up-to-date on all this truth and practice it inside and out, I'm not going to let up for a minute in calling you to attention before it.

1:13 This is the post to which I've been assigned—keeping you alert with frequent reminders—and I'm sticking to it as long as I live.

Remembrance is an ounce of prevention for forgetting minds. We do one thing: Remember GOD's goodness, love, grace, mercy and peace.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Pay close attention to JESUS and don't let Him slip your minds.

Hebrews 12:2 (The Message)

12:2 Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.
