Part #4 "The Miracle Of The Manger." Series
Contributed by Kyle Sullivan on Jun 16, 2011 (message contributor)
Summary: In this Christmas season sermon series, I used clips from the Christmas classic and remake of Miracle on 34th Street to illustrate the points of the messages. The credit goes to Pastor Greg Fine
Question: Just exactly who is this baby lying in the manger?
John 1:1-5, 9-14
1. Astonishing Claims: Could Jesus be who He claims to be?
Luke 2:11 "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." (NIV)
The Claims of Jesus:
Bread of Life
Living Water
Forgiver of Sins
The Way, the Truth, and the Life.
The Resurrection and the Life.
Emmanuel "God with Us."
Question: What do you make of these radical claims?
"Jesus is either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord!" C.S. Lewis
2. Staggering Implications: What if Jesus is who he claims to be?
Hebrews 1:3a "He (Jesus) is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power." (NASB)
What we decide about this child born in Bethlehem not only determines our eternal destiny, it also determines our earthly direction as well.
3. A Fateful Decision: Do You Believe?
Matthew 16:15-16 "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (NASB)
Question: How will you answer that question?
John 1:12 "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (NIV)
Question: Will you open your heart to Christ and trust Him to be exactly who He claimed to be?
