Summary: Growing your heart in Christ. This outline was helped by Steven Andrews series on Guarding your Heart.

Psalms 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (HCSB)

"There's talk of freedom and abundant life of peace like a river and joy unspeakable, but we see precious little of it, to be honest." John Eldredge (Waking the Dead)

Why we can see or hear the Truth of the Kingdom:

1. We must see the reality of two very different worlds.

John 12:25 "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." (NIV)

Question: How do you understand with your heart?

If you are consumed with the things of this world you will never see the truth of Christ's Kingdom.

John 12:28b-29 "Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him." (NIV)

Some hear and some don't!

2. We Reject the Truth! 2 Corinthians 4:4 "Regarding them: the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ." (HCSB)

John 12:35-37 "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you...Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light."... Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him." (NIV)

Satan conceals, individuals choose but God closes the door of opportunity.

John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him..." (NIV)

If you persist in refusing and rejecting the truth, you will eventually lose your ability to recognize the truth when it is right before your eyes.

3. We must consider the Traps that Hide the Truth!

Lack of Instruction!

Lure of the World!

Loss of Identity!

John 12:43 "They loved praise from men more than praise from God." (NIV)

Question: Will you turn your eyes upon Jesus?
