Palm Sunday- Foolish or Wise? Psalm 14:1-2NLT
Do you realize that your response to the Creator of the heavens and earth is the difference between you becoming wise or foolish. The devil loves for you to live everyday as if it were April fools.
Psalm 14:1-2NLT Only fools say in their hearts,“There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! 2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.
The difference in being truly wise or foolish is a person’s belief system. Through out God’s word ‘the name fool’ is designated to those who fail morally not intellectually.
Isaiah 32:6TM For fools are fools and that's that, thinking up new ways to do mischief. They leave a wake of wrecked lives and lies about God, Turning their backs on the homeless hungry, ignoring those dying of thirst in the streets.
"There are two kinds of fools: those who can't change their opinions and those who won t." "The best way to convince a fool that he is wrong is to let him have his way."
Luke 19:30-40NLT Jesus said, “Go into that village over there,” he told them. “As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” 32 So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said. 33 And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?”34 And the disciples simply replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on. 36 As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. 37 When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen 38 “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!” 39 But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”40 He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”
“Isn’t it something that God can make ‘stones’ smarter than some prideful, stubborn people.” (Maybe that where we get the expression, “Dumb as a rock.”)
“Listen, God can change a rock, but He refuses to change ‘the human’ that He made in His own image.”
1 Corinthians 1:26-31 For consider your calling brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong. 28. and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, 29 so that no man may boost before God. 30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption. 31 So that, just as it is written, “Let Him Boasts, Boast In The Lord.
God’s created ‘beings’ become puffed up- prideful toward their creator- “Isn’t that something?’
Hear this: "A fool always finds a greater fool to admire him."
However, “Your Spiritual promotions come through your associations- especially with God!”
I Want to give you Four Ways God’s people become wiser.
The wise do what ‘He’ say’s for them to do. Jesus said, “Get Me that untamed colt.” (His disciples did it!)
If you give your best, He will ride through your circumstances. (His disciples took their garments off.)
Remember, Luke 19:35-36NLT So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on. 36 As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him.
These disciples honored their King! (What did the fool do?)
The ‘wise’ praise Jesus through through out the streets.
“It’s one thing to praise and worship Him in here, but what about on the streets and the highways and byways?”
The wise won’t listen to their surroundings, nor the Pharisees, or even their old associations.
Luke 19:40TM But he said, "If they kept quiet, the stones would do it for them, shouting praise."
Benediction.
