OVERCOMER AT LAST…
BY Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Can we accept there is an OVERCOMER’S PEACE and JOY? Jesus says he gives peace; in the world we will have trouble, but take courage my friend! Jesus has our back. WE CAN WALK AS OVERCOMERS IN THIS STRESS, STRAINED WORLD OF FEAR?
2 Timothy 3:1 know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
Let me tell you something we should already know. Read the Newspapers, look at the computers we are in the last days. Look around you, we walk in very difficult times. There is a book written in the1960’s called FUTURE SHOCK. This book predicts that times will change so quickly that many minds will not be able to cope with it. Suicides will increase and mental institutions will be full and the streets will be taken over by mentally ill people.
Perilous times are here, filling men’s hearts with fear, freedom we all hold dear now is at stake… There seems to be no shortages of difficult struggles, heavy burdens, hard times, fear filled days and seasons of sickness... At best life is a series of UPS and DOWNS.
CORRIE TEN BOOM SAID: WORRY IS A CYCLE OF INEFFICIENT THOUGHTS WHIRLING AROUND THE CENTER OF FEAR.
Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
OVERCOMER: one that succeeds over problems and difficulties, champion, TO WIN STRONG IN THE FAITH, strong in truth.
THE CROWNS OF OVERCOMERS HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN GREAT SEASONS OF TESTING…
Genesis 49:19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
Jacob is on his death bed and he calls his 12 sons around and he speaks to his sons. He says of Gad. Gad will be attacked by many, but he will trip them up. Gad shall triumph at last. Gad will be a fierce warrior tribe and will be a conqueror.
GAD WILL HAVE SOME DIFFICULT SEASONS BUT GAD MEANS “WHAT A GOOD FORTUNE.”
Remember Gad was part of the plot of 10 brothers to kill Joseph. Joseph forgave his 10 brothers. Gad is one of the 12 tribes of Israel. Jacob’s seventh son of Leah, Leah’s handmaiden Zilpah had Gad. He was the elder of 2 sons born to Jacob and Zilpah. Zilpah was the maidservant of Jacob’s first wife Leah.
When Jacob was on his death bed, Jacob called his 12 sons around him to PRONOUNCE BLESSINGS ON THEM. Jacob gave a prophecy over Gad. Jacob praised his son Gad and predicted the tribe of Gad will be conquerors... Jacob told Gad his descendants would BE BRAVE SOLDIERS AND WOULD BE MIGHTY AND BE GREAT OVERCOMERS. Jacob said Gad would be attacked and look hopeless but that the tribe of Gad would be overcomes and triumph in great victory against all Gad’s foes.
Jacob under God’s anointed prophecy was clear, GAD WILL CONQUER! MOSES TAKES THESE WORDS DEEPER … THE TRIBE OF GAD PROMISES MOSES: WE WILL NEVER QUIT UNTIL A TOTAL VICTORY... WE ARE OVERCOMERS…
Deuteronomy 33:20 And of Gad he said, Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad: he dwelleth as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of the head.
When Israel crossed into the Promise Land the tribe of Gad settled in the land north east of the Jordan River. The tribe of Gad was renowned for its MILITARY SPIRIT. Gad had 7 sons all mighty warriors.
THERE WAS A REQUEST FROM 3 TRIBES, THE GADITES, REUBENITES AND ½ OF TRIBE MANASSEH TO STAY IN THE NORTH EAST SIDE OF THE JORDAN. MOSES WAS CONCERNED THEY WOULD NOT FIGHT FOR ISRAEL… THE TRIBE OF GAD PROMISED TO FIGHT UNTIL THERE WAS A COMPLETE VICTORY.
Numbers 32:20 And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war, 21 And 22 And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD. 23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.
GAD AND HIS DESENEDENTS WERE FAITHFUL TO THEIR COMMITMENT. THE LESSON OF GAD IS CLEAR… THEY SAW THEIR NEED FOR COMPLETE FAITH AND TOTAL TRUST IN GOD. GAD AND HIS TRIBE NEVER ALLOWED THE ROOT OF BITTERNESS AND FEAR TO POISON AND TAKE ROOT. JACOB’S WORDS WERE TRUE… GAD MIGHT TASTE SOME DEFEATS, BUT GAD WAS AN OVERCOMER… THE TRIBE OF GAD BECAME VICTORIOUS AND MANY SERVED UNDER KING DAVID’S REIGN. The same anointing can rest over us…
