Our Worship Prompts His Willingness. Pt 2

Summary: The Old Testament uses three primary terms that are translated worship: The first term, avad. It's usually translated to serve. It signifies a lifestyle of commitment and allegiance. The second term, yireh. It is to fear...
3. havah/Bowing down: Actions of worship.
Genesis 22:5NLT “Stay here with the donkey,” Abraham told the servants. “The boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there, and then we will come right back.”
Abraham was actually saying that ‘we’ (Abraham and Isaac), will give ourselves solely to God.
Testimony: I’ve always thought that this act of worship (this act of surrender) was a testimony unto Abraham. However, I am convinced this worship (this surrender) was a two-fold event between Abraham, Isaac and their God, Father God!
Nugget- Worship is the normal response to God’s presence.
Exodus 33:9-10NKJV And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door.
God’s people saw the presence of the Lord and they were moved to worship.
Very soon after this event, Moses was allowed to stand in the Clift of the rock, and see the glory of the Lord. This vision of God caused Moses to worship.
Hear God sing about Himself. Exodus 34:5-8NLT Then the Lord came down in a- cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh. 6 The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy!?I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. 7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations.” 8 Moses immediately threw himself to the ground and worshiped.
Remember, worship involves the giving of ourselves to God. The word worship (havah) is used for the first time in the account of Abraham sacrifice of Isaac in Genesis 22.
Whether it be the giving of Abraham’s son, the giving of a lamb, the giving of money, or the giving of our time, worship involves giving to God something that is valuable to us.
When the ark of the covenant came back from the Philistines (the Philistines were dying left and right) These idol worshippers, cried out, “Get rid of this thing!”
I’ll just say this, God knows how to cause trouble if trouble is needed! P.H
When the Ark came back to Jerusalem, David wrote a psalm which says in part. 1 Chronicles 16:23-31NLT Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. 24 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. 25 Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. 26 The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! 27 Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling. 28 O nations of the world, recognize the Lord, recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. 29 Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. 30 Let all the earth tremble before him. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. 31 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Tell all the nations, “The Lord reigns!”
