Introduction

Welcome, dear friends and beloved family in Christ, to this blessed gathering where we seek to grow in wisdom and understanding, to be nourished by the Word of God, and to be drawn closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. I am truly humbled and overjoyed to share this time with you all, as we stand on the threshold of a new revelation, a new understanding, and a renewed commitment to our faith.

We find ourselves today at the crossroads of reflection and anticipation, caught between the echoes of God's past promises, the trials and triumphs of our present circumstances, and the shimmering horizon of future possibilities. We will be turning our hearts and minds to the profound verses of Isaiah 43, Jeremiah 29, and Philippians 3. These passages remind us of our divine heritage, our earthly purpose, and our heavenly hope.

But before we do, let me share with you the wise words of the esteemed Charles Spurgeon, who once said, "By perseverance, the snail reached the ark." This simple yet profound statement reminds us that no matter how daunting the journey may seem, no matter how insurmountable the obstacles, perseverance in faith will always lead us to our divine destination.

Now, let us read together from the scriptures.

Pondering on Past Promises

When we look back at the promises of God, we find a rich tapestry of divine faithfulness that stretches back to the dawn of creation. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom and boundless love, has always been a promise-keeper, a covenant-maker, a God who is true to His word. This is a truth that we see echoed time and time again in the scriptures, a truth that stands as a beacon of hope in our lives.

God declares to His people, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine." God has not only created and formed us but has also redeemed us and called us by name. He has claimed us as His own, a promise that speaks of His deep, personal love for each one of us.

This promise of redemption is a living reality. It's not just about what God has done in the past, but what He continues to do in our lives today. Every day, He is working to redeem us, to transform us, to make us more like Him. He is constantly calling us by name, inviting us into a deeper relationship with Him, reminding us that we belong to Him.

But this promise is about both us individually and also about our collective identity as the people of God. When God says, "You are mine," He is speaking to all of us, as a community of believers. He is reminding us that we are part of something bigger than ourselves, that we are part of His family, His body, His church. This is a promise that binds us together, that unites us in a common purpose and a shared destiny.

God declares in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Here, we see a God who not only knows us intimately but also has a plan for our lives.

This promise of a hopeful future includes both our life now and also our eternal destiny. God's plan for us is not limited to our time on earth, but extends into eternity. He has promised us a future that is filled with hope, a future that is anchored in His love, His grace, His mercy. This is a promise that gives us a reason to live, a reason to hope, a reason to press on.

Paul writes in Philippians, "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Here, we see a believer who is not just living in the past or the present, but is also looking forward to the future. He is not just remembering God's past promises or experiencing His present faithfulness, but is also anticipating His future blessings.
