INTRODUCTION:

Motherhood is not only a natural role; it is a spiritual calling with divine responsibility and eternal reward. Every godly mother is a builder, a nurturer, and a carrier of destinies. Their love is sacrificial, their prayers are fervent, and their labour is often unseen but impactful.

The story of Ruth and Naomi reveals the power of a mother’s influence, even through hardship. Naomi’s life left such a lasting impression that Ruth, her daughter-in-law, followed her not only in family ties but in faith and in destiny. Mothers shape lives through example, counsel, and spiritual mentorship.

In this sermon, we shall explore how God rewards faithful and godly mothers, both in this life and in the one to come. Their sacrifices are never in vain, and their reward is sure.

1. GOD REWARDS A MOTHER’S SACRIFICE

Every genuine sacrifice made by a mother is recorded in heaven.

a) A mother’s love is selfless and enduring

(Isaiah 49:15) – “Can a woman forget her sucking child?...”

b) She labours day and night without applause

(Proverbs 31:15) – She riseth while it is yet night…

c) Her silent tears and prayers reach God

(Psalm 56:8) – God bottles our tears.

d) God honours her commitment with generational blessings

(Galatians 6:9) – In due season, she shall reap if she faints not.

Biblical Example: Jochebed, the mother of Moses, risked everything to save her son and ended up raising a deliverer (Exodus 2:1–10).

2. GOD HONOURS A MOTHER’S INFLUENCE

A godly mother shapes not just children, but nations.

a) She is a living example to her household

(Proverbs 31:26–27) – She openeth her mouth with wisdom…

b) Her influence can shape a child’s destiny

(2 Timothy 1:5) – Timothy’s faith was nurtured by his mother and grandmother.

c) Her words are remembered even in her absence

(Proverbs 1:8–9) – Forsake not the law of thy mother.

d) Her counsel is a foundation for future generations

(Titus 2:4–5) – That they may teach the young women…

Biblical Example: Mary, the mother of Jesus, quietly pondered all things in her heart, guiding her son in the will of God (Luke 2:19, 51).

3. GOD REDEEMS AND REWARDS A MOTHER’S PAIN

Even in difficult situations, God brings beauty out of brokenness.

a) Many mothers endure seasons of loss, shame, or hardship

(Ruth 1:20–21) – Call me not Naomi… call me Mara…

b) God restores joy to broken hearts

(Psalm 30:5) – Weeping may endure for a night…

c) The pain of the past prepares for the glory of the future

(Romans 8:18) – The sufferings… are not worthy to be compared…

d) Her end shall be greater than her beginning

(Job 42:12) – So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job…

Biblical Example: Naomi lost everything but gained a daughter-in-law who became the ancestor of Christ, showing how God restores through motherhood (Ruth 4:13–17).

CONCLUSION:

Mothers are among God’s most treasured vessels on earth. Their sacrifices, influence, and endurance carry eternal value. Whether you are a mother, grandmother, or spiritual mother, God sees your labour and has prepared a reward that no one can take away.

Let today be a reminder that heaven applauds every mother who chooses to love, to lead, and to live for God. Her story is not forgotten; her name is written in the lineage of legacy and honour.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, thank You for the gift and blessing of mothers.

2. Lord, strengthen and uphold every mother going through challenges.

3. Let the reward of every faithful mother locate her speedily.

4. Raise mothers who fear You and build godly homes.

5. Let the influence of godly mothers spread across generations.
