Summary: Moses was faithful in his job, though insignificant! Moses did not resign and flee, he stuck to the petty job! He is on the backside of the desert, serving as a shepherd for forty years!

Waiting in the back stage!

Exodus 3:10”Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.

Cyrus P Mistry, 45, is the sixth Chairman of Tata Sons and was appointed as the Chairman of the board in December 2012. He has been a director of the company since 2006. In addition to being Chairman of Tata Sons, Mr Mistry is also the chairman of major Tata companies including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, The Indian Hotels Company, Tata Global Beverages and Tata Chemicals.

Mr Mistry was earlier managing director of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. Under his leadership, Shapoorji Pallonji’s construction business grew from revenues of $20 million to approximately $1.5 billion. He is a recipient of the ‘Alumni Achievement Award’ from the London Business School. A businessman tycoon with all the above wondrous accolades up his sleeve, was in no hurry to flaunt his skills, when he usurped the throne as the Chairman of Tata Sons – he remained calm, cool, much of Mr. Cyrus Mistry’s time has been spent to study and assess the group and understand its business. Mr. Mistry is what he is now because of his cool approach! Today we are going to meditate the subject of waiting! Are you ready? Today, we have youngsters who would want to release their music albums the very first year of entering ministry, start a church and usurp the pulpit – not many would want to humbly work under a leader, learn the subject and wait for God’s timing. Are you listening?

In the above verse, we see Moses who was once a mighty prince in the palace of Pharaoh instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, mighty in words and deeds was now keeping the flock of his father-in-law near mount Horeb! Moses was faithful in his job, though insignificant! Moses did not resign and flee, he stuck to the petty job! He is on the backside of the desert, serving as a shepherd for forty years! Pretty long period! If any one of us have been kept that long in the desert in the same position, we would have gone bonkers! I’m speaking to someone who is in the ‘back side of the desert’ for a long time! Let this message pump energy into you and cheer you! Let me frankly tell you, it is never easy to stay in the back side of the desert; none of us want to be in the back side, to start with – all of us want the front stage, are you listening? Let us learn to wait and stay in the back stage until God equips us and lifts us!

Mathew Henry said: ”Let those that think themselves buried alive be content to shine like lamps in their sepulchres, and wait till God's time come for setting them on a candlestick.” I love this quote!

After forty years, God visited Moses while he was on the back side of the desert! Look what God said: Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people! Man, this is powerful! God does not look at you the way world looks at you! To the world, Moses was an ordinary shepherd, but to God Moses was a deliverer, an ambassador for Christ, who was appointed to speak to kings! Glory to Jesus! On a single day Moses title changes from humble shepherd to a powerful ambassador for God!
