Meekness, 8th Fruit Of The Spirit

MEEKNESS, 8TH FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT 6/6/24P

FRUIT: sweet and fleshy product of a tree or plant, fruit comes from a bloom, the edible parts of plants, leaves, stems, roots bulbs, savory.

THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS SUMMED UP IN 9 TRAITS OR ATTRIBUTES. Those that are Christ like need to be gifted with the spiritual fruit. We need to walk and live in the spirit of God.

We have been in a study about the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. This is the 8th installment: MEEKNESS with 1 to follow.

MEEKNESS IS AN ESSENTIAL FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. We live in a dominating, aggressive world. There is only one way to teach meekness --- THAT IS BY DOING MEEKNESS.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

*MEEKNESS: mild, patient, GENTLE, HUMBLE, not assertive, to endure hurt, bitterness, injury and pain without resentment, the attitude or quality of a person’s heart, they are willing, without resistance, to put the will of others before their own will,, submissiveness, power under control, to endure injury with patience, humble, not proud,

MEEKNESS ALWAYS REFERS TO HOW YOU TREAT OTHERS. Meekness will always produce joy and peace.

WHAT DO WE DO WHEN THE STORMS COME, WHEN OPPOSITION AND ADVERSITY TRIES TO HINDER US AND KNOCK US DOWN. Two people are known in the Bible for their meekness, MOSES AND JESUS.

MEEKNESS DOES NOT MEAN HEAVINESS. Meekness has faith in the confidence that God is working for you, not against you.

MOSES: Numbers 12:1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

JESUS:

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Some associate meekness with weakness, this is not true. Jesus could have said the word and he could have called 12,000 angels.

JESUS IS TEACHING WHAT WE CALL THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT. MATTHEW 5 IS WHAT WE CALL THE BEATITUDES… WHERE JESUS TELLS WHO WILL LIVE IN HIS BLESSINGS IF THEY STAY MEEK.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5 (MSG) "You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought.

SHORT FUSE? IN MY OPINION MEEKNESS DOES NOT COME EASY… PERHAPS ONE OF THE HARDEST LESSONS IN THE BIBLE TO FOLLOW IS “TURNING THE CHEEK!”

Meekness teaches us NON-RETALIATION. By human nature we tend to operate as opinionated and to have a short fuse… be impatient,

Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

HAVE TO? ROMANS HAD THE LEGAL RIGHT, COMPULSION FOR YOU TO CARRY THEIR STUFF ONE MILE… THIS WAS NOT OPTIONAL … IN MEEKNESS THE SECOND MILE SHOWS IN MEEKNESS

I WILL VOLUNTEER TO GO BEYOND MY DUTY… NOW THAT IS FIRST DEGREE MEEKNESS.

Matthew 5:41. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

SO WHAT LOVE?

Matthew 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

ZEBEDEE’S WIFE PRIVATELY TALKS TO JESUS. DO YOU WANT TO START WORLD WAR 3?

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SOMEONE DEMAND A PROMOTION? EXCESSIVE AMBITION: KILLS MEEKNESS. WE NEED MEEKNESS IT IS A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. IT IS A CHRISTIAN RULE. WE NEED TO ASK: WHY AM I DOING THIS? WHO AM I DOING THIS FOR? MOMMY WANTED HER TWO SONS TO HAVE THE BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE.

IN HEAVEN I WANT MY TWO SONS TO SET ON YOUR RIGHT AND ON YOUR LEFT… THERE ARE 10 OTHER MEN THAT ARE JEALOUS AND MEAN?

Matthew 20:25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
