FREEDOM(:18-19)

Explanation: (:18-19)Live differently—How do we live Freely?

:18—“So Noah went out, & his sons & his wife & his sons’ wives with him.”

:19—“Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, & whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark.”

It was also Noah’s responsibility to see that the animals were “brought out” from the ark. Noah was to bring the animals out “with” himself & his family. Every kind of animal was as important to God’s plan as was the kind of humanity represented thru Noah.

Noah was to bring all out from the safety of the ark into the safety & broad openness of the newly cleansed earth. The animals were again intended to “abound” upon the earth(1:22). This they were to do by fulfilling their God-ordained directive to be “fruitful & multiply.”

Thus Noah exited the ark with “his sons, his wife & his sons’ wives.”

Also the animals of all the “families” present, exited the ark. “Families” had been produced among the animals during their time(365 days) on the ark. They were mere individuals when entering the ark but now they are considered families.

Now all(particularly men) are Free to live opposing their former world outside of God’s will. They are all, in a limited sense, free from sin!

*But HOW were they to live Freely?

“Bring out”(See :16—“Go out”—Qal Imperative)— auy yaw-tsaw'—Hiphil Imperative—1) To go out, come out, exit, go forth. Strong—a primitive root; To go (causatively, bring) out, in a great variety of applications, literally & figuratively, direct & proxim.

“Abound”—Urv shaw-rats'—1) (Qal) To teem, swarm, multiply. Strong—a primitive root; To wriggle, i.e. (by implication)--Swarm or abound.

“Fruitful”—hrp paw-raw'—1) To bear fruit, be fruitful, branch off. Strong—a primitive root; To bear fruit (literally or figuratively).

“Multiply”—hbr raw-baw'—Qal Perfect—1) Be or become great, be or become many, be or become much, be or become numerous. Strong—a primitive root; To increase (in whatever respect).

“Families”—hxpvm mish-paw-khaw'—1) Clan, family. Strong—A family, i.e. Circle of relatives; figuratively--A class (of persons), a species (of animals) or sort (of things); by extens.--A tribe or people.

Argumentation:

*HOW are WE to live Freely?

Having been set free in Christ!

Jn. 8:31-36—“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, & the truth shall make you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, & have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, ‘You will be made free’?” Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Rom. 6:13-23—“And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, & your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, & of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, & having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, & the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
