Managing Your Finance Biblically

1. Matthew 25:14-30

2. 1Tim 6:6-10

3. Psalm - 01

The Bible talks the topic of money extensively, with Jesus conveying important lessons through various parables. These teachings emphasize not only our attitudes towards money but also the importance of managing our finances in a manner that honors God.

For Christians, money holds significant value as it represents the fruits of our labor.

The scripture clearly states that one cannot serve both God and mammon (wealth), indicating that it is not possible to simultaneously serve God and devil.

Bible says (1 Timothy 6:9)

Mammon is the money

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

That is the reason why we should leave to steward upon money

Luke 16:11 (New International Version)

11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

Luke 16:11 (King James Version)

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

The manner in which you manage your finances reflects the level of trust God can place in you for greater responsibilities. We all seek to cultivate genuine spiritual wealthy in the kingdom of God.

Proverbs 21:5 (NLT) “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.” If you don't tell your money where to go, then you will wonder where it went. A budget is how you make sure that you don't spend more than you make.

God does not looks on the amount of money you possess; rather, He examines how you manage it.

What is your attitude towards it?

What behaviors do you exhibit?

When God observes our faithfulness in handling unrighteous wealth, He will bestow upon us true spiritual riches.

We all want spiritual riches we all want to grow rich in the kingdom of God in things that are not measured in money, passion and stocks.

Jesus says

How are we handling the money we have. How is your attitude and how is our behavior. When we are faithful in Gods sight he will entrust in many things.

4 things that the scripture teaches us how to handle our finances

1. Be content and not covetous (1Tim 6:6-10) (Adiga assi Kolamal Tiruptiyaka Irunkanum)

As Christians, it is essential for us to cultivate a sense of contentment and to refrain from coveting of what others have.

Content does not imply

• That we should avoid financial prosperity,

• neglect our duty to assist others,

• Or refrain from giving tithes.

Rather, content signifies a genuine gratitude for what we currently possess.

2. Trust in God and not in Riches (Phil 4:19) (Aicuvariyattai Nambamal Devanae Nambumkal)

There is a difference between a Christian and a non-Christian.

A non-Christian places his trust in material wealth, which can lead to evil.

In contrast, a Christian does not rely on riches; instead, he places his faith in a God who is the source of all abundance (riches).

3. Be generous and not stringy (Proverbs 11:24-25) (Taralamaka Irunkal Kanjamai Illamal)

Numerous Christians engage in debates regarding the practice of tithing. As followers of Christ, we are called to embody generosity. When we embrace a spirit of generosity, we distinguish ourselves in a positive manner, as it mirrors the heart of God.

Rather than being overly cautious with our finances, exhibiting stinginess, or succumbing to greed, we should aspire to emulate Christ's generosity.

This includes

• giving generously to those in need,

• supporting the poor,

• assisting our families, and

• Contributing to God's purposes.

4. Walking in faith and not in fear (Isaiah 41:10) (Bayathil alla Nambikkaiyil Natappatu)

Fear can significantly undermine your financial stability more effectively than any pandemic or market downturn. Many individuals find themselves anxious about the future of their finances.

Jesus said (Matthew 6:25)

Do not be worried of your next meal. He is telling don’t let worries dictate your financial behavior

Don’t let fear drive your decision let faith drive you decision.

We live by faith and not in fear

We trust in God and not in riches

We live in content and not in coveting

We develop the attitude of generosity Instead of allowing fear to dictate your decisions, let faith guide you.

? We are called to live by faith rather than fear,

? to place our trust in God rather than in material wealth,

? And to embrace contentment instead of envy, and to cultivate a spirit of generosity.

Practical ideas for managing your finance

Effective management of our finances is essential; otherwise, we may not be deemed worthy of spiritual wealth by God. Often, individuals focus their prayers on various desires while neglecting to seek divine assistance for their financial situations, which can lead to debt and an inability to meet family obligations. Many time we think oh that ok.
