This sermon encourages believers to truly know God, experience His divine presence, and welcome Jesus as the King of their hearts.

Introduction

Welcome, dear friends, to this blessed gathering where we come together, not as mere individuals, but as a family united under the banner of Christ’s love.

In the words of the renowned Christian author, J.I. Packer, "Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life's problems fall into place of their own accord." We are here, dear friends, not to merely know about God, but to truly know Him, to experience His divine presence in our lives, to feel His transformative impact, and to welcome Him as the King of our hearts.

Let us turn to the Scripture, the living and active Word of God. In the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 21, verses 7-11, we read: “They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’ When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, ‘Who is this?’ The crowds answered, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.’”

Honoring the Presence of Jesus

The Gospel of Matthew paints a vivid picture of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. The people of the city, recognizing the significance of His arrival, respond with an outpouring of honor. They lay their cloaks on the road, a gesture of deep respect and reverence. They cut branches from the trees, creating a carpet of greenery for Jesus to tread upon. This was not a casual welcome. It was a grand display of honor, a recognition of Jesus' divine presence among them.

The first way we honor Jesus' presence is through our worship. Worship is not just singing songs on a Sunday morning. It's a lifestyle, a daily choice to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and to live in a way that reflects His lordship. It's about aligning our thoughts, words, and actions with the truth of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. It's about making space for Him in our lives, inviting Him into our everyday moments, and acknowledging His presence with us.

The second way we honor Jesus' presence is through our obedience. Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commands" (John 14:15). Obedience is a tangible way of honoring Jesus' presence in our lives. It's about choosing to live according to His teachings, even when it's difficult or counter-cultural. It's about trusting that His ways are better than our own, and that His plans for us are good.

The third way we honor Jesus' presence is through our love for others. Jesus said, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:34-35). Our love for others is a reflection of Jesus' love for us, and it's a powerful way of honoring His presence in our lives.

The fourth way we honor Jesus' presence is through our trust in Him. Trust is an essential component of any relationship, and our relationship with Jesus is no exception. Trusting in Jesus means believing in His promises, relying on His strength, and resting in His love.

In the midst of the clamor and the shouts of "Hosanna," we find ourselves standing at the precipice of understanding the magnitude of Jesus' impact ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
