Summary: TEACHES US NOT TO TAKE THE GIFT OF GOD AND THE LORDS TABLE FOR GRANTED
THE LORDS TABLE
(1Co 10:15) I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
(1Co 10:16) The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
(1Co 10:17) For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
( Lev. 17:11) Life of the flesh is in the blood
If the bread is the body of Christ and the blood is the life then in consuming it and partaking of it we the Church are the body of Christ and are full of the life of Christ therefore we are capable of producing Christ like actions and are expected to minister and reach out like Christ. I tell you that what we do in the assemble of the church is more important than how we often do think and behave. The word we receive truly is the bread of life and we should consume it and not play with it and take it for granted. The blood we consume is precious and life giving and we must not take it for granted . We are the body of Christ. The bread of life has filled our bellies spiritually speaking and given us strength when we had none, it is not like the poison that the world offers, be filled with the word the bread of life. The blood revived us when we were dead in our sins and gave us life. Do not tread upon Gods sacrifice but treasure it and receive it.
(1Co 10:20) But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
(1Co 10:21) Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
Whether the world understands it or not though they are many times in ignorance of their sin, they live unto the devil and sin. We can not commune with the world and do the things they do and go to all the place they go, say all the things they say and expect to still have the strength and the power that comes from the word, the bread, the body of Christ.
Not only do we taint our own souls but we taint the church of God( with our worldliness and bad attitudes and spirits).
(1Co 10:1) Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
(1Co 10:2) And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
(1Co 10:3) And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
(1Co 10:4) And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
(1Co 10:5) But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
(1Co 10:10) Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
Egypt- type of sin
Cloud- type of Holy Ghost baptism
Sea - type of water baptism
Manna- type and shadow of the body of Christ
Rock and the water that flowed- type and shadow of smitten Christ smote in side Blood and Water flowed from his side.
You see they murmured and complained about their escape from Egypt and they were afraid of the cloud and the sea and yet that is what literally covered their type of bondage. They murmured and complained of the rock and the manna yet that was their very source of strength and a type and shadow of their deliverance.
Lets be careful how we receive the gifts of God for many times the very things that we do not understand or appreciate or the things that seem to hurt are the very things God has given for our goodness and benefit. Let us walk oh so carefully before God our savior.
(Luk 22:15) And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer:
Jesus desires to commune with you.
(Rev 3:20) Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Peter and Judas both fell after the Lords Supper but the difference was that Peter ate the Lords Super sincerely and Judas left the supper.
Do not leave the work of God do not forsake it or take it for granted but consume it sincerely and wholly.
