Look at The Savior’s Hands

Introduction

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated as Easter around the world. The hands of Jesus Christ was pierced to the Cross. The actions of a person’s hand is symbolic of what he wants to accomplish. When the work of the hands of people come together for a common purpose for common good, the results are marvelous. Let us look at the hands of Jesus Christ and see what actions came out of it.

Key verse for the sermon Psalms 123:2 “As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.”

These verses take us to a humbling position. Our eyes are waiting for the Lord to move.

1. Hands that created human beings

God created humans out of the dust of the earth. But he spoke everything else into existence. Genesis 2:7 “Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”

Between Genesis 2:7 and Psalm 123:4, sin seperated man from God. The status of creation deteriorated and God sent his own son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for the sins of humanity.

Romans 8:29

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren

Let us have faith that the hands that created me will sustain me. I am the clay, he is the potter. Let him make me and mold me after his will.

Jeremiah 29:11

1 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosperyou and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

2. Hands that healed

Matthew 9:20

The Healing Touch of Jesus

…19Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples. 20And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; 21for she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I will get well."…

If only, we believe. Help my unbelief O Lord.

John 9:5-6

Jesus Heals the Man Born Blind

…5"While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world." 6When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, 7and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam " (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing.

3. Hands that loved

John 13:2-5 “The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”

4. Hands that were pierced

Isaiah 53:4-5

The Suffering Servant

…4Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

John 20:27

Jesus Appears to Thomas

…26After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you." 27Then He said to Thomas, "Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing." 28Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"

5. Hands that raised

Mark 5:41

“Taking the child by the hand, He said to her, "Talitha kum!" (which translated means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!"). ”

Matthew 27:52

51And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.…
