I have seen cars, homes, and businesses with a sticker or poster with the words, “Psalm 91 Protects this property” Psalm 91 can protect nobody; the God of Psalm 91 is our safe place.

Psalm 91:1-2 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

The Old Testament is a shadow of the real thing in the New Testament. The Tabernacle or Temple where God originally dwelt with his people was destroyed and rebuilt by Jesus, but this time not physically. His temple is now the corporate church, every individual becomes a temple.

When Jesus was on earth for 33 years, he could only be in one place at one time.

John 1:14 tells us that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

The word “dwelt” means “to tabernacle among” or “to pitch one’s tent among.” It refers back to Exodus: “The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle” (Exodus 40:34). Moses’ tabernacle was indeed a dwelling place for God, but it was also a prophetic representation of the Word, Jesus Christ, becoming flesh and dwelling among us.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Immanuel means "God with us." The Bible constantly points to the coming Messiah, who fulfilled God's loving plan for the salvation of the world. When Mary gave birth to Jesus, Immanuel, God became visible to us, He stepped into His creation.

Matthew 1:21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Jesus ascended so that the Holy Spirit Could be sent. The Holy Spirit would then dwell in every person who believes and receives.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Acts 1:4-5 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Every believer then becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

When God instructed Moses to build the Tabernacle, God gave every minute detail which Moses had to carry out precisely as God described to him. God created the world in six days and basically, two chapters of the bible tell us how the world was created. 50 Chapters are recorded to tell Moses how to build the Tabernacle. That is how important the place was where God would dwell among the people.

Inside the Tabernacle was the Holiest of Holies, The secret place. This most holy place is where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. The Ark of the Lord’s manifest presence, glory, and power. The Holy of Holies was covered by a veil, and no one was allowed to enter except the High Priest, and even he would only enter once a year to offer the blood of sacrifice and incense.

Hebrews 9:7 But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance;

The physical and earthly “secret place” of the priesthood pointed to the true and spiritual secret place of the Most High. The earthly secret place is a shadow of the real place deep within the hearts of each one of us. The Hebrew word for “secret” means hidden, concealed, protected, or disguised.

So the secret place within each one of us is hidden and protected, it is not for all men but reserved for those who have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus. If the building of the earthly Tabernacle was so important then how much more important is our body the temple of the Holy Spirit?

We are the temple and inside of us is the holy place the holiest place. The place where the throne of God is.

Isaiah 66 Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool: What Temple can you build for me as good as that?

Colossians 1:26-27 The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
