Youth Sermon: Light of the World

Introduction

The world can feel pretty dark sometimes, but Jesus offers us a light that can brighten up even the darkest corners. Let's dive in and see what this means for us.

Turn off all the lights in the room and try to navigate around. It's hard, right? Now, turn on a flashlight. See how much easier it is to see and move around? That's what Jesus does for us in our lives.

Jesus offers us a light that can brighten up even the darkest corners.

Sin in the Dark

Sin is when we don't do what God wants and choose our own way instead. We've all messed up and fallen short of what God wants for us.

Sin brings darkness into our lives. It can look like giving into temptations or addictions. These dark places confuse us and lead us to make bad choices.

But walking in the light is way better. Jesus promises that if we follow Him, we won't have to stumble around in the dark. He saves us from our sin and shows us the way out of the dark.

Loneliness in the Dark

We were made for relationships, not to be alone. But when things get tough, we often isolate ourselves. That's when the enemy loves to mess with us the most.

Even when things are hard, we need to reach out to others for support. Job, a guy who really knew about tough times, turned to his friends for comfort. Being alone only leads to more darkness and frustration.

Hopelessness in the Dark

Hopelessness is that feeling of being totally lost and without hope. It's a dark place that many of us know all too well.

When we're in the dark, we need to ask ourselves some hard questions. We need to bring our struggles into the light. That's the only way we can find healing and freedom.

Conclusion

The world can be full of darkness, loneliness, and hopelessness. But Jesus offers us a way out. He's the light of the world, and He came to bring us life, light, and love.

In Colossians, we're reminded that God has saved us from the dark and brought us into the kingdom of light through Jesus.

This week, try to identify one area of your life where you're stumbling around in the dark. Ask Jesus to shine His light on it and show you the way out.
