Summary: The Lord want’s to shine through you.
ISAIAH 61:3
God wants to be glorified in your life, but the only way He will get the glory is if you would start acting like He has done something.
HE HAS SAVED YOU !
HE HAS DELIVERED SOME FROM ALCOHOL OR DRUGS OR GAMBLING.
SOME HE DELIVERED FROM ADULTERY OR FORNICATION OR IDOLATRY and so many other things that keep people all bound up when they don’t know the Lord. But many of these same people still walk around with the same look in their faces as before. Perhaps somebody needs to remind them that Christ has set them free!!!.Some people just don’t know how to show their gratitude so instead they show their attitude.
The Bible shows that we are blessed beyond measure;
Deuteronomy 7:13 ff. says that HE WILL LOVE THEE AND MULTIPLY THEE. HE WILL BLESS THE FRUIT OF YOUR WOMB (your children) AND THE FRUIT OF YOUR LAND (your house and possesions). The word also shows that YOU ARE BLESSED IN THE CITY AND ALSO IN THE FIELD. YOU ARE BLESSED GOING IN AND COMING OUT.If you are a child of God, it doesn’t matter where you are at,YOU ARE BLESSED !!! GOD WANTS TO BE GLORIFIED IN YOU !!!
#1. He wants to give you beauty for ashes.
-ashes are a sign of death. In biblical days they were a sign that someone had died. The ashes were thrown on the head of the family of the deceased.
God wants to give you beauty for ashes. Beauty=Pe’-er (Hebrew) it means a fancy headdress or turban or hat.
#2. The oil of joy for mourning.
Some people have been mourning for too long. Honey
that man is gone...stop mourning and have joy in your life. Get on with life.
That job is gone. God is going to give you a better one. Get on with your life. God wants to anoint you with the oil of joy. Oil in the Bible brings healing and the power of God in our lives. He wants you to have joy. (Look at verse 10)
Psalm 16:11 "In your presence there is fullness of joy."
Psalm 30:5 "weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning."
Psalm 126:5 "Those that sow in tears will reap in joy."
#3. The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
-heaviness is a spirit. It pushes you down. It puts pressure on you. It wants to tear you down. It makes you weak and breaks your spiritual defenses.
The same word is used for eyes becoming dim (Isa.3:2) and a lamp going out (Isa 42:3).
Notice: The way you put out the spirit of heaviness is by putting on your garment of praise.
Heb. 13:15 "Let us offer a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name."
#4. "That they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified."
Psalm 1:3 says: "And He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does will prosper."
Let Him give you beauty (a turban) for ashes. The oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
