Contributed by Brian Barrett on Jun 23, 2011 (message contributor)
Summary: This is a outline of a message that will minister to anyone who feels that they are stuck in a wilderness. It answers the question, "why am I going through this?". It will teach the congregation 4 lessons from the wilderness that they need to know so that
Text: Luke 4:1-13
Definition of WILDERNESS- lonesome, waste desert, desolate, solitary
Definition of LED by the Spirit- bring, drive, carry
Examples: Ezekiel 37:1, Mark 6:31, John 6:5,6
The Lord WILL at times lead you into a solitary place. Why? To allow you to be proved (tested), so that you will learn something and giving you the opportunity to practice what you have learned.
God will drive you into a desert place for a life lesson. The most important thing that you can learn is that GOD IS ALL THAT YOU NEED. *If you have everything but Christ, you have nothing. If you have nothing but Christ, you have everything.*
4 Lessons from the wilderness
1. You learn to stand on God's word. Luke 4:4,8,12
Scriptures: Ps. 119:89, Numbers 23:19, 2 Corinthians 1:20
2. You learn that you can stand the test.
It was not just 40 days of testing. It was also 40 days of victory!
You can stand the test because...
Scripture: Hebrews 4:15, John 16:33, Romans 8:37, Philippians 4:13, 1 John 4:4
3. You learn that you have power over the devil. Luke 4:13
Scriptures: Luke 10:19, 1 John 3:8, James 4:7
4. You learn that God will provide. Matthew 4:11
His very name tells us that he will always provide, JEHOVAH-JIREH.
Closing
Luke 4:14 And Jesus RETURNED in the power of the Spirit...
*When God leads you into a wilderness, he always has you comeback in mind!
You will come back with more faith.
You will come back with more expectation.
You will come back IN THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT.
***Practice what you have learned.
