KNIT TOGETHER, UNITY? THE TARGET?

I have a large steal WEDGE… Our homes are under attack from WITHIN…

Matthew 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Mark 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

UNITY: harmony, accord, unified, singleness of focus, the quality or state of not being multiple, one, together,

The Northern troops developed a strategy to defeat the south. It was called the Anaconda Plan. General Winfield Scott developed the plans to defeat, DIVIDE AND CONQUER. The north would take RICHMOND, VA. Then the north would divide the south. There would be a Naval Blockade to stop shipments. Sherman’s March would destroy every railroad, every bridge and torch the buildings, and a thrust down the Mississippi River. Divided? Conquer!

CAN WE IDENTIFY THE ROOTS OF BITTERNESS THAT WILL KILL AND DESTROY THE UNITY IN OUR HOME AND OUR CHURCH?

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

God commands his people to live in unity with each other. Unity requires LOVE and COMPASSION. Often real life and conflict are first cousins. We see stress, selfishness, hurt, anger, foolish debates and politics can give birth to CONTENTIOUS WORDS AND ATTITUDES. Our enemy is throwing every weapon and tool he has to DESTROY UNITY and HARMONY. We find there grows a root of hatred, bias, differences, hurt, fighting and darkness trying to smother the light of brotherhood.

Hebrews 12:12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

God desires us to LOVE at all times. We need a spirit of kindness, understanding, patience, peace and joy not only in actions, reactions and in our words. UNITY IN GOD’S CAMP IS NOT AUTOMATIC OR EASY TO MAINTAIN. As God’s people we must learn to pull together in compassion, peace and grace. SET ASIDE? WHAT DOES SET ASIDE MEAN?

PAUL HAD AN URGENT APPEAL FOR CHRISTIANS: DO YOU REALLY PRAY FOR UNITY IN YOUR HOME? CHURCH? NATION? DO WE EARNESTLY PRAY THAT WE CAN GROW UNITY THAT GOD MIGHT KNIT US TOGETHER? UNITY CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED BY PRAYER.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1 Corinthians 1:10 (MSG) I have a serious concern to bring up with you, my friends, using the authority of Jesus, our Master. I'll put it as urgently as I can: You must get along with each other. You must learn to be considerate of one another, cultivating a life in common.

PAUL HAS LEARNED SOME IMPORTANT FACTS REGARDING SERVING JESUS… WE MUST HAVE UNITY IN THE CAMP.

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

2 Corinthians 13:11 (MSG) And that's about it, friends. Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure.

THERE IS GREAT POWER IN UNITY AND AGREEMENT. WE HAVE THIS POWER LAYING DORMAINT IN OUR HOMES AND CHURCHES. OUR ENEMY FEARS A UNIFIED HOME AND CHURCH.

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

GOD DESIRES OUR HOMES, FRIENDSHIPS AND CHURCH TO BE KNIT TOGETHER. ARE WE TOTALLY UNITED AT THE CROSS?

Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
