Summary: Christs joy don’t require stuff
Joy Of The Saints
John 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
Christ desires to have his joy fulfilled in us. His joy is not fulfilled in the things of this world.
He had no house to live in. >>Only a heavenly mansion would do!
He did not drive a Cadillac Chariot. He walked every were he went. Except one little donkey ride(that was borrowed.) a couple of boat rides.
One time he walked on water(he don’t need a boat) That’s not were he found his joy!!
He did not have money(he sent Peter to catch a fish to pay tribute) still richer than any King.
He had no wife (the new Jerusalem Will be his Bride)
so what did he have to bring him joy? Gods word in his heart Gods spirit in his life.
2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong
.
This is not the joy most look for.
Psa 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
The psalmist here states that he finds his delight in the will of the LORD and in his laws.
To one who wants the joy of Christ can find it in his law.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Jesus states here
If ye keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love
* If Christ abides in the father and i in Christ what is the difference in the commandments? motive and LOVE!!
Abide-to dwell,continue, stand firm
Psa 146:5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
The one you call on for help is the one you have faith in.
It will show in you action and attitude who it really is .
Happy is he!
People will quote the joy of the LORD is my strength but in time of need look at all other sources.
Pro 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
The only real wisdom the only real understanding is found in the LORD
Never will you find happiness, never will you find joy, never will you find peace, never will you find anything Worth having outside of Christ.
Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
I once heard a man say,
"Holiness is the happiness of the righteous"
True holiness is found only in Christ. Not to leave anything out but without Christ all the works are vanity. Without righteousness there is no real joy.
