Job 19:23-29 JOB'S REVELATION

I. HE KNEW OF A REDEEMER. 25 For I know that my redeemer liveth,

A. “I”; “My” – This is Personal. - the personal pronouns in this text: 25 - 27

I know my redeemer and my redeemer knows me.·

Gal 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

B. “I know….”- This is Powerful. “I myself know….” - No Doubt.

C. my redeemer - This is Practical - Who and What is a Redeemer?

Redeemer –or, Vindicator, defender; lit., kinsman

O.T. Perspective – (according to the Oriental law of kinship), i.e. to be the next of kin (and as such to buy back a relative’s property, marry his widow, etc.)

Deliverer, Purchaser, Ransomer, Redeem(-er), Revenger

Related To Us

In Creation :- because we are created in His image (Gen.1:27).

In Re Creation :- Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

In His Incarnation :- Heb.2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

N.T. Perspective – “bought with a price as in a slave market”

II. HE KNEW OF A RETURNER 25 that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth

(a) The Purpose Of His Coming -

Ps.98:9 Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

(b) The Promise Of His Coming

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also

Heaven – “A prepared place for a prepared people”

Prepared By Jesus Dying For Sin, By Our Dying To Sin.

(c) The Period Of His Coming -

Most people admit they do not know when Jesus is coming again.

But too many live as if they know when He is not coming again.· - Fail To Repent

Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

(d) The Prize At His Coming -

2 Tim. 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

If we loved His first coming, we will love His second coming.

Conversely, if we do not love His first coming, we will not love His second coming·

Philip.3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

(e) The Preparation For His Coming -

1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

III. HE KNEW OF A RESURRECTOR

26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

1 Thess. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

IV. HE KNEW OF A REWARDER

27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
