VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. JESUS is the Light of the world - in the flesh

"As long as I am in the world,"

John 1:4-5 (Amplified Bible)

1:4 In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.

1:5 And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].

As long as or "hotan" in Greek which means: whenever. The LORD JESUS knows He will be with us in a short while during the time of the 12 Apostles. JESUS knows exactly the time of His death even before the foundation of the world and when He taught the disciples He constantly reminded Him that He will die for the sins of this world.

John 12:36 (Amplified Bible)

12:36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them [was lost to their view].

Ephesians 1:4 (Amplified Bible)

1:4 Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.

Illustration:

Believers are like the moon, while the LORD JESUS is the Sun. As the moon does not have any light on it's own, it only reflects the light of the true source of the light - the sun.

Isaiah 49:9 (Amplified Bible)

49:9 Saying to those who are bound, Come forth, and to those who are in [spiritual] darkness, Show yourselves [come into the light of the Sun of righteousness]. They shall feed in all the ways [in which they go], and their pastures shall be [not in deserts, but] on all the bare [grass-covered] hills.

Malachi 4:2 (Amplified Bible)

4:2 But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy.

Newborn babies are exposed to the sun because doctors believed it will heal the babies, and they are right, because the true Sun - the LORD JESUS CHRIST have healing on it's wings. We expose ourselves to the LORD JESUS CHRIST by way of attending worship services, midweek services or prayer meetings, prayer and fastings, conferences and seminars of your local church. Without these we will be physically and spiritually weak because there's no healing for us. Only JESUS heals through His Divine Presence.
