INTRODUCTION:

Life is a journey with a beginning and an end, but between these two points lies the mystery of divine purpose. Many try to understand where they come from or where they are going, but true meaning is only found in Christ, the Alpha and Omega. He is the eternal One who existed before all things and will remain long after all creation has fulfilled its course.

The phrase “Alpha and Omega” represents the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, symbolising that Jesus is the source, sustainer, and summation of all existence. Nothing begins without His consent, and nothing concludes outside His control. He is both the origin and destiny of all things.

When believers recognise Jesus as the Alpha and Omega, their faith is strengthened, their journey is secured, and their destiny is assured. Life’s uncertainties lose their power because the One who began our story is also the One who will complete it gloriously.

1. JESUS IS THE ETERNAL BEGINNING OF ALL THINGS

Before the foundation of the world, Jesus already existed with the Father and the Holy Spirit. All creation began through Him, and nothing exists apart from His creative power.

a) The Word in the Beginning (John 1:1-3): In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Everything created came through Him. Jesus is not a created being but the Creator Himself.

b) The Source of Life (Colossians 1:16): All things, visible and invisible, were created by Him and for Him. Every breath, gift, and purpose originates from His divine hand.

c) The Unchanging God (Hebrews 13:8): From eternity past to eternity future, Jesus remains the same. He is not limited by time or change; His purposes endure forever.

d) The Foundation of Salvation (2 Timothy 1:9): Before time began, God planned redemption through Christ. He is the Alpha of our salvation, the One who initiated the plan to save mankind.

Biblical Example: In Genesis, Jesus appeared as the creative Word through whom all things were made (Genesis 1:1; John 1:3). From creation itself, His eternal role as Alpha was revealed.

2. JESUS IS THE SUSTAINER OF ALL THINGS

As Alpha, He began all things; as the Sustainer, He keeps everything functioning by His power. Without His constant involvement, all creation would collapse into chaos.

a) The Upholder of All (Hebrews 1:3): Jesus upholds all things by the word of His power. Every heartbeat, every sunrise, and every system of nature continues because He sustains it.

b) The Controller of Time and Seasons (Daniel 2:21): Times and seasons are in His hands. He raises kings and brings them down; nothing happens outside His sovereign plan.

c) The Keeper of His People (Psalm 121:4-5): He never slumbers nor sleeps. As the Sustainer, He watches over His children and preserves them from falling.

d) The Provider of Daily Grace (Lamentations 3:22-23): His mercies are new every morning. Every day of our lives is sustained by His unfailing love and compassion.

Biblical Example: During Israel’s wilderness journey, God sustained His people with manna, water, and divine protection (Exodus 16-17). Likewise, Jesus, the eternal Sustainer, provides all that we need to live victoriously.

3. JESUS IS THE RIGHTFUL END OF ALL THINGS

As Omega, Jesus will bring all creation to its destined end. History is not random; it is moving toward the fulfilment of God’s redemptive purpose through Christ.

a) The Finisher of Our Faith (Hebrews 12:2): He who began a good work in us will complete it. Jesus ensures that our faith journey ends in victory, not defeat.

b) The Judge of All (Acts 17:31): God has appointed a day when Jesus will judge the world in righteousness. Every life and action will be brought to accountability before Him.

c) The Consummation of All Things (Ephesians 1:10): In the fullness of time, all things in heaven and earth will be gathered together under Christ’s authority.

d) The Eternal King (Revelation 11:15): The kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.

Biblical Example: At the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-8), Jesus revealed His divine glory, showing that history’s end leads to His eternal reign and glory as Omega, the final revelation of God’s plan.

4. JESUS IS THE COMPLETER OF THE BELIEVER’S DESTINY

The believer’s life is a story authored and finished by Jesus. He begins our faith, sustains our journey, and perfects our destiny according to His divine plan.
