JESUS OUR HIGH PRIEST
Hebrews 4:14-5:10
Key Verse and Theme: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
1. The honor of being a high priest.
A. No one takes this honor upon himself.
B. He must be called by God.
C. God called Christ to the position of high priest.
2. What does the high priest do?
A. The high priest offers sacrifices for sins.
B. The high priest deals gently with the ignorant and the lost.
C. The high priest represents the people in God-related matters.
3. Jesus as a high priest.
A. He was without sin.
B. He was tempted in every way.
C. He offered the sacrifice.
4. Jesus became The High Priest.
A. He was selected by God.
B. He sympathizes with our weaknesses.
C. He obeyed God to perfection.
D. He became the source of our salvation.
