5/10 John 15 – Mothers Day, Jesus is the Vine—we are the Branches, God is the Gardener (Mothers garden us)

Welcome Calvary family to Mother's Day

Worship. We're back in a vineyard again, at Sharon Forden’s. She and her son Ken and I

talked about some aspects of the vineyard and I want to relate some of these aspects to Mother's

We know that within scriptures were told in John chapter 15 Jesus says,

1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.

11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Friends, there's a few things that I want to share---a few highlights that I want to talk about out here in the vineyard.

You know we live in an area Texas Corners area where there are a lot of vineyards, but most of us myself included had never really understood how they grow ---how the grapevine works--- how it produces fruit.

Well I am going to bring up just a couple of different ideas today.

The first is the protection --protection of God is the gardener. Jesus says he is the vine he is the vine and the health of the vine has to start in the ground--- with the soil ---with the nutrients. So if you look around us--- the Skyline

Farm --- they keep off the grass cut down - and they get rid of the weeds---SO ALL all the nutrients need to go into the vine… so that the vine can grow strong and healthy.

What are we called to do with our lives-- we are called to have our lives rooted in the scripture ----what our moms --what our parents

try to teach us ---our mothers in particular and our grandmothers---they desire to raise us up and to root us into scripture--- to root us into a

relationship with Jesus Christ and there's the protection there that that a parent / a mother wants to have. Protection--Christ wants to have with us.

Look at this vine ---see the vine rows are long and the vine needs to have a support system. When you look at a vineyard ---the vineyards are nice and straight and the vineyards have poles which keep the vines up and every so far there's a new vine that comes up and the branches split out between the different vines.

The support system ---I love the fact that that Jesus says that we need to remain in him

because we get our nourishment through the vine comes out through the support system. And it's interesting that in the in the springtime you can see these little branches--- or they're also

called canes these little branches will grow and as they grow, they tend to like to curl around anything that they can curl around. The owner of the vineyard will put the wires up here, so that they can direct the Canes ---direct the branches into growing close to the Vine.

Structure ---I don't know about you, but I know for myself--- sometimes we can get a little frustrated with what God calls for structure within our life. And yet really within that structure when we that way we are the most joy filled.

I know mom's …I used to get really frustrated with my mom when I was a little kid because she wanted to have structure in my life and yet she knew the nourishment that she was giving me needed structure within my life so that
