INTRODUCTION:
Life is a journey filled with decisions, challenges, and uncertainties. Many people struggle with knowing the right path to take. Without proper guidance, one can easily get lost or make costly mistakes.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd, does not leave His people to wander in confusion. He provides divine direction, wisdom, and clarity for those who trust in Him. His guidance leads to peace, safety, and fulfilment.
When we submit to the leading of Jesus, we avoid unnecessary struggles and regrets. He knows the future, He sees the dangers ahead, and He leads us on the best path.
1. JESUS GUIDES THROUGH HIS WORD
The Bible is the roadmap that provides direction for our lives.
a) God’s Word is a lamp to our feet (Psalm 119:105)
It illuminates our path so that we do not stumble.
b) Obeying God’s Word brings success (Joshua 1:8)
Meditating on it ensures we prosper in all we do.
c) His Word corrects and instructs us (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Scriptures equip us for every good work.
d) Ignoring His Word leads to destruction (Hosea 4:6)
People perish when they reject divine knowledge.
e) Biblical Example: The Wise and Foolish Builders (Matthew 7:24-27)
The one who built on God’s Word stood firm, while the other collapsed.
2. JESUS GUIDES THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is our Helper and divine Compass, leading us in the right direction.
a) The Spirit leads us into all truth (John 16:13)
He reveals God’s plans and purposes to us.
b) He teaches us what we need to know (John 14:26)
The Holy Spirit brings divine understanding.
c) He warns us of dangers ahead (Acts 16:6-7)
Paul was redirected from a wrong path by the Spirit.
d) We must be sensitive to His leading (Galatians 5:25)
Walking in the Spirit ensures we stay on course.
e) Biblical Example: Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-40)
The Holy Spirit guided Philip to a divine assignment.
3. JESUS GUIDES THROUGH GODLY COUNSEL
God places spiritual leaders and wise counsellors in our lives to help us stay on the right path.
a) Wise counsel leads to safety (Proverbs 11:14)
Without guidance, people fall, but many advisers bring victory.
b) Spiritual mentors help us grow (2 Timothy 2:2)
Paul mentored Timothy to fulfil his calling.
c) Ignoring wise counsel leads to disaster (Proverbs 13:20)
Walking with fools brings destruction.
d) God speaks through His servants (Amos 3:7)
He reveals His will through prophets and leaders.
e) Biblical Example: Jethro’s Advice to Moses (Exodus 18:13-26)
Moses was guided to appoint leaders to assist him.
4. JESUS GUIDES THROUGH DIVINE PROVIDENCE
God orchestrates circumstances to lead us in the right direction.
a) God orders the steps of the righteous (Psalm 37:23)
He ensures that His people walk in the right way.
b) Divine delays can be divine direction (Exodus 13:17-18)
God led Israel through a longer but safer route.
c) God closes wrong doors to protect us (Revelation 3:7-8)
He shuts doors that are not His will.
d) Unexpected challenges can be divine redirection (Genesis 50:20)
What was meant for evil, God turns for good.
e) Biblical Example: Joseph’s Journey to Destiny (Genesis 45:5-8)
Though sold into slavery, God guided him to fulfil his purpose.
5. JESUS GUIDES TO ETERNAL LIFE
Beyond this life, Jesus leads us to eternal glory with Him.
a) Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6)
No one comes to God except through Him.
b) His guidance leads to everlasting life (Matthew 7:13-14)
The narrow path leads to eternal joy.
c) He prepares a place for us in heaven (John 14:2-3)
He has gone to prepare mansions for the saints.
d) Those who follow Him will never walk in darkness (John 8:12)
Jesus is the Light that leads to life.
