INTRODUCTION:
One of the greatest assurances we have as believers is that Jesus answers when we call upon Him. Unlike men, who may ignore or delay in responding, Jesus always hears and answers at the right time. He is not too busy to listen, nor is He indifferent to our cries.
Many times, we feel discouraged when answers do not come as quickly as we expect. However, the Bible assures us that God is faithful and that no prayer goes unheard. Sometimes, the answer comes immediately; at other times, it requires patience. Whether the answer is "Yes," "No," or "Wait," we can trust that Jesus responds in love and wisdom.
This sermon will explore five key areas where Jesus answers: prayer, faith, obedience, persistence, and desperation.
1. JESUS ANSWERS PRAYER
Jesus is a prayer-answering God. He invites us to call upon Him, and He responds to our cries.
a) He promises to answer those who ask in faith (Matthew 7:7-8)
When we ask, seek, and knock, He responds.
b) He answers according to His will (1 John 5:14-15)
When we pray according to His plan, He grants our requests.
c) He answers before we even call (Isaiah 65:24)
God anticipates our needs and responds in His perfect time.
d) Prayer unlocks supernatural intervention (Acts 12:5-7)
The church prayed for Peter, and an angel set him free.
e) Biblical Example: Hannah’s Prayer for a Child (1 Samuel 1:9-20)
She prayed fervently, and God answered by giving her Samuel.
2. JESUS ANSWERS FAITH
Faith moves the hand of God and brings answers to our situations.
a) Without faith, it is impossible to receive from God (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith is the key that unlocks divine response.
b) He honours those who believe without doubting (Mark 11:24)
When we pray with faith, we receive what we ask for.
c) Faith activates divine healing and miracles (Matthew 9:29)
According to our faith, it will be done to us.
d) Jesus rewards persistent faith (Matthew 15:28)
The Canaanite woman’s faith moved Jesus to answer her.
e) Biblical Example: The Centurion’s Faith (Matthew 8:5-13)
Jesus answered his request for healing because of his great faith.
3. JESUS ANSWERS OBEDIENCE
When we walk in obedience to God's word, we receive divine responses.
a) Obedience opens the door to answered prayers (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)
God blesses those who diligently obey His commandments.
b) Disobedience can hinder prayers (Isaiah 59:1-2)
Sin creates a barrier between us and God’s answers.
c) Jesus answered Peter’s obedience with a miracle (Luke 5:4-7)
When Peter obeyed, he caught a great number of fish.
d) Obedience positions us for divine favour (John 15:7)
If we abide in Christ, we can ask what we desire, and He will do it.
e) Biblical Example: Naaman’s Healing Through Obedience (2 Kings 5:10-14)
When he obeyed and dipped in the Jordan, he was healed.
4. JESUS ANSWERS PERSISTENCE
Persistent prayer and unwavering commitment to God yield results.
a) Persistence leads to breakthroughs (Luke 18:1-8)
The parable of the persistent widow teaches us to keep praying.
b) Delay is not denial (Habakkuk 2:3)
Though the vision tarries, wait for it—it will surely come.
c) Persistent worship moves the heart of God (John 4:23-24)
When we remain steadfast in worship, God manifests His presence.
d) Those who do not give up receive answers (Galatians 6:9)
We reap in due season if we do not faint.
e) Biblical Example: Blind Bartimaeus’ Persistent Cry (Mark 10:46-52)
He refused to be silenced and received his healing.
5. JESUS ANSWERS DESPERATION
When we call upon Him with a sincere and desperate heart, He responds.
a) Desperate cries attract divine attention (Psalm 34:17)
The Lord hears and delivers the righteous out of all their troubles.
b) He does not ignore a broken heart (Psalm 51:17)
A contrite spirit is precious in God’s sight.
c) Desperation leads to extraordinary encounters (Genesis 32:26)
Jacob wrestled with God and received a new name.
d) God is near to those who seek Him wholeheartedly (Jeremiah 29:13)
When we seek Him with all our hearts, we find Him.
e) Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25-34)

CONCLUSION:
Jesus is the Answer to every need. Whether through prayer, faith, obedience, persistence, or desperation, He always responds to those who call upon Him. Even when it seems like there is silence, He is working behind the scenes for our good.
Let us continue to trust in His faithfulness and never stop seeking Him. His timing is perfect, and His answers are always for our best. No matter what you are believing for, keep calling upon Jesus—He will surely answer!
