Is There More To It? Series

How many times have we said; "If only I had seen that coming!" or "I'm never doing this again!" And more often than not; we go back and step into the same muddy situation. Is it because we haven't quite gotten the lesson or could it be because we want to approach it with a different angle? And maybe, just maybe, we keep making the same mistake because we are not quite ready to try the unknown. So whether they be relationships or finances; we don't seem to have what it takes to walk away from a certain pattern until a higher level of embarrassment causes us to change the way we think.

According to Romans 7:18; apostle Paul says it this way; "I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." Though our sinful nature is entirely in charge of the way we process things; the Holy Spirit can and will penetrate us through the complete surrender of our will as we desire to submit to God's will for us. And unless that desire is so huge and so potent that we would never want to go back to our old ways; God will not grant us the gift of his holiness. Only then will our heavenly identity have a chance to develop by chiseling away one unnecessary habit at a time.

Philippians 4:6-7 reads; "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." God still wants to have that eternal fellowship with us. That's why He created us. And He will do whatever it takes to keep us on the right path. The only catch is: we, too, must want that heavenly relationship with God more than anything else this world is offering. The more we resist its temptations; the less frequently they'll visit or torment us.
