Summary: • How intimate are we to God? • How familiar are we with regards to God? • Familiarity is different from Intimacy. • Familiarity has something to do with knowing God through a story. • Intimacy has something to do with our experience of God.
3 STEPS TO INTIMACY WITH GOD:
1. HEARING GOD’S VOICE.
a. ...If a man hear my voice.
b. Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
c. Hebrews 3:15
While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
2. OPENING OUR HEARTS AND LETTING GOD COME IN.
a. …open the door, I will come in to him…
b. Mark 12:30
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
c. John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
3. FELLOWSHIPPING WITH GOD.
a. ….I will come in to him, and will sup/eat with him, and he with me.
b. John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
c. Psalm 42:1-2
1As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
d. Psalm 63:1
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.
e. Psalm 63:8
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
