1 King 9:2”….the LORD appeared to Solomon a second time as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.”

Don’t tell me the Lord did not warn you! Umpteen signals are sent from God; yet, due to their numbness, dumbness and blindness, people fail to understand it. Look at the above verse, God appeared to Solomon the second time in his dream, as he appeared to him at Gibeon the first time and warned him pretty strongly, read verse 6, 7”…if you turn aside from following me….. I will cut off Israel from the land..” The Bible says,

(Jeremiah 17:9)“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 "I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds."

I guess God saw tiny particles of lust enter into the heart of Solomon through his eyes and ears! God warned him! Solomon was so enchanted and hypnotized by the beauty of the pagan women that God’s voice got drowned in the midst of other cacophony. Come on, overnight you cannot have 700 wives, princesses, and 300 concubines; his heart lost the first love and passion that he had for God because his heart was now filled with lust and adultery.

The Bible says, (verse 4)’For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.’ Look at the many times the word ‘ heart’ is mentioned in a single verse; yes, how you take care of your heart with all vigilance is important. (Proverbs 4:23) The words: “the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice” is pretty scary!

Listen up please! When the young man you are dating behaves oddly, swears and treats you harshly, don’t be dumb, this fellow would be the same even if he buys 1000 roses to pacify you! Warning! Proverbs 1:32” For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them.” I know of a Christian woman who attends every possible prayer meeting, reads the Bible, fasts and prays, yet is imprudent an unwise in believing her husband repeatedly despite him cheating her financially enormous times. She works very hard only to keep paying the money that he swindles from other people, her stupidity is still a conundrum for me!

Hey friend, when you get that midnight call, when your wife is away, did not God warn you? When you are planning to embezzle your office funds, did not God whisper in your ears? Even today God is sending a warning signal for everyone through this devotion, who have plugged their ears from hearing the Word of God! Repent immediately rather than wait to accumulate 300 concubines but lose God in your life!
