In The Father's Hands

Summary: A message on the security of our salvation being in the Father’s hands. Also, encouraging us to put other issues of life in the hands of God.
John 10:22-30
A. Most things are best left in the hand of the pros.
Sports, repairs, music, etc.
B. The same item in different hands can bring about different results.
C. That principle certainly applies to our redemption.
I. Our Salvation is in the Hands of God
A. He knew us from the beginning
Eph. 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
B. He sent His Holy Spirit to quicken us
Eph. 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
C. He gave His son to die for us.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1. Our sins imputed to Him
2. His righteousness imputed to us
D. He gave His Spirit to seal us.
Eph. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
E. He gave His word to assure us.
Col. 2:2-3 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
II. It Becomes, Therefore, A Matter Of Integrity
A. Where is God’s honor is any of His be lost
B. What of His power if He can not keep
C. What of His grace if He can not save the undeserving
1. What kind of HEAD is Christ if the body perish?
2. What kind of SHEPHERD is Christ if His sheep perish?
3. What kind of HUSBAND is Christ if He allows His bride to perish?
4. What kind of PRIEST is Christ if His atonement fails?
5. What kind of PHYSICIAN is Christ if the patient dies?
6. What kind of KING is Christ if He has no subjects?

D. Perhaps why Christ pointed out that Judas was lost from the beginning.
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
III. Examples of things left in the hands of God
A. A little boy’s meager lunch of 5 barley loaves and two fish
1. he had to turn it over first
2. God blessed it and fed a multitude
3. many other things in our life do we cling to that we should put in the Masters hand
a. our fears
b. our hatred
c. our doubts
d. our grief
B. Christ’s dying words
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
