In His sight
Psalm 139:1-7
10/2/06
O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
GOD, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence. look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too-- your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful-- I can’t take it all in! Is there any place I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight?
„« Search me or investigate me
o After the investigation would there be evidence to prove you are a child of God?
o In an investigation, all areas are examined. Here are a few examples that might be investigated:
„X Music ¡V What are you filling your subconceince with? What evidence would be found in your home or automobile?
„X The Bible clearly teaches that music should honor God, bring praise to Him and be distinctly Christian in both the music and the words. Music should lead you to live a life that is Christ like and pure.
„X What are eyes are allowed to see in magazines, video, television, and internet sites. We are commanded to abstain from even the Appearance of evil and also not to give place to the devil
„« I¡¦m never out of your sight! * I Peter 3:12 = "FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS, AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER, BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL." For The Eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." 2 Chronicles 16:9 NKJV
We need to be reminded of these scriptures because Satan always wants to tell us that we are isolated and that God has forgotten us.
I like the words ¡§To show Himself strong¡¨
This is why memorization of the word of God is so important. When you feel an attack from the enemy such fear, anxiety, or depression. You pray the word of God against those attacks. God wants you to go on the offensive and destroy the works of the devil!
„« You are my hedge * The best passage regard the word hedge is found in Job 1:10 ¡V Satan says ¡§ Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.¡¨
* Satan does not have a free hand toward God’s people. He must operate within certain limits set by God.
* Satan’s will toward God’s people is far more violent than most of us realize.
* We experience little of Satan’s violence because of God’s active protection of us, those around us, and all that we have.
Look at Luke 22:31-32: Jesus told Peter that Satan had asked for him by name. Peter had been loudly proclaiming his unfailing devotion to Jesus, when Jesus said, "Satan wants you to be taken out of the power and keeping of God and given to him so he might sift you like grain. But, Jesus said, "I have prayed especially for you, Peter that your faith would not fail.
* This is why it¡¦s critical we pray for a hedge of protection around our families and extended families. Just look at the random acts of violence in this country!
* Be specific when you pray! Too many times we pray in generic terms that don¡¦t deal with the need at hand. You need to call it out in pray!!!
„« Where can I go from your presence
o Proverbs 15:3 = The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good.
o In the O.T. God promised to go with the Children of Israel as they made their way into the Promised Land. At times, it was clearly obvious due to the ark, the pillar of fire and cloud. Moses made it very clear the he wanted God to be present in their journey. He said to God, "If your Presence does not go with us, we will not move from this spot ! How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us?
