Immanuel: God With Us!

LET US GO DOWN TO BETHLEHEM --- GOD WITH US...

I. Join in with the lowly shepherds... HEAR THE ANGELS SING:

GLORY TO GOD...

Worship with the WISE MEN...

UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN, UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN...

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

A. Jesus is Jehovah INCARNATE...

B. MIRACULOUS CONCEPTION TO A VIRGIN BIRTH...

Song 5:16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely.

This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

II. IMMANUEL (EMMANUEL)

A. Bible interpeters regard these words as directly and exclusively a PROPHECY OF

OUR SAVIOR...

GOD WITH US...

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 8:8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

B. PRAISE GOD --- HE IS WITH US!

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

III. GOD WITH US --- WE ARE WITH GOD...

A. God with us in our nature...

God with us in our pain and sorrow

God with us in our life’s work...

God with us in the grave...

God with us in our punishment...

B. Now us with Him in His Resurrection...

Us with God in the ASCENSION and TRIUMPH

US WITH GOD IN THE SECOND COMING...

THEY TOOK NOTE OF THEM THAT THEY HAD BEEN WITH JESUS...

IV. JESUS IS A BROTHER TO EACH BELIEVER...

Matthew 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my

mother? and who are my brethren?

[49] And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

A. Ring on my finger

A robe on my back...

Brother born for ADVERSITY

B. JESUS WAS KNOWN BY ABRAHAM, ISAAC, JACOB

C. JESUS IS THE ROCK... STABLE... TESTED... PROVEN

The fig tree may not and the flocks cease blossom,

Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:

and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

VI. JESUS IS A FRIEND TO EACH BELIEVER...

James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called

the Friend of God.

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his

life for his friends.

VII. JESUS IS OUR LORD AND KING... KING OF KINGS

1 Tim. 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

Joel 2:11 And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

VIII. JESUS CAN CALM THE STORMS...

Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

[27] But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

IX. JESUS IS THE RESTORER... REGAINER OF PARADISE...

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

X. JESUS HAS POWER IN HIS BLOOD...

A. THERE IS WONDERFUL POWER IN THE BLOOD...

Hebrews 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

B. The Priest poured the blood over the altar and washed the altar with water...

OUT OF HIS SIDE FLOWED BLOOD AND WATER...

John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

C. We bear the King’s seal... STREETS OF GOLD...

XI. JESUS IN HIS FULNESS IS DEITY... SON OF GOD
