I’m On The Verge Of A Breakthrough 2nd Samuel 5:20

And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore, he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

The reason why I have docked my discourse on this spiritual document, which details some dealings of King David, is because the people of England and the people of France had a mutual problem, not since the Ice Ages had there been a land-built connection between the two countries.

And my brothers and my sister: What separated them was a large body of water, known as the English Channel. Years ago, they began discussing ways that they could solve the problem was by connecting the two countries.

One idea was to build a bridge over the ocean that would stretch from England to France, but that idea was soon dismissed as being logistically or financially impossible.

They then decided that the best way to resolve the problem and connect the countries was by building an underground tunnel beneath the English Channel.

So, it was in the summer of 1987 the crews on the English side began to dig; shortly thereafter the crews on the French side began to dig.

And they tunneled through millions of tons, of rocks, dirt, and debris at an average depth of 150 feet beneath the English Channel.

When the tunnel diggers from England and France finally met each other under the tunnel they had an historic breakthrough, the project was completed some 7 years later in 1994, and now for the first time since the Ice Ages there is a land-built connecting England and France.

Now this remarkable achievement of engineering is a testament to the creative Prowers of the human will, cooperation, and determination. And now we have what the English and French speaking people respectively call the Euro and the Channel tunnel, which stretches some 31 miles from England to France.

The people of England and France had a problem, and their problem was not solved until they had an underground breakthrough. And in a real sense someone who is looking at me right now, you’re facing some problems in this life that you cannot solve on your own, and simply put like the people of England and the people of France there seems to be an ocean of problems between you and your blessings, your purpose, and your destiny. And what you need, is a breakthrough from God.

Now what is a breakthrough: In a military sense a breakthrough is an attack that penetrates an enemy’s line of defense.

In a spiritual sense, a breakthrough is a supernatural move of God where he moves issues out of your way, anything that the devil has placed in your way, and the truth of the matter is; there is no obstacle that God cannot move out of your way.

But here is a nugget. The fact of the matter is obstacles, and obstructions, are really opportunities that God uses in order to demonstrate that he has the power to bring us through.

So, when we are experiencing obstacles, and obstructions that we cannot solve or handle on our own, the good news is that we have some options.What are the options Pastor? Well you can either have a break-up, or a break down, or you can trust God for a breakthrough.

And I know that some of you that are looking at me this morning, I know that you might have with a smile on your face, and hallelujahs on your lips, and up lifted hands, but if the truth was to be told, behind all of that you’ve some of us have been catching hell on every hand, some of us have more problems than we can count.

I know that I’m not the only one on the live this morning. I’m talking to someone who’s at their wits end, and feels like giving up. But I want to tell you this morning that it’s not time to quit, don’t you give up right now, because as long as God is on the throne, he’s the God who has the power to provide a breakthrough.

And I believe David in this text gives us some principles and truths to help us get a breakthrough.

But the first question that needs to be address is, what make you eligible for a breakthrough? What is that you need to qualify you for a breakthrough?

The first thing that qualifies you is for a breakthrough is that you first must have a problem.

Verse 17 says: Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David as king of all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David, and David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.
