However, the message was so lengthy that it bored the audience. In contrast, this sermon aims to be concise and impactful. In this message, we will explore the question: Are you passionate for Jesus?

The Purpose of Jesus' Coming:

Theologians have debated the purpose of Jesus' coming to Earth for centuries. Jesus himself provides several answers in the New Testament. For example, in John 10:10, Jesus states that he came to give abundant life. In Luke 19:10, he declares his mission to seek and save the lost. And in Matthew 20:28, he explains that he came to give his life as a ransom for many. However, Jesus also reveals another purpose in Luke 12:49-50. He says, "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed!"

The Symbolism of God's Fire:

When Jesus speaks of bringing fire on the earth, he is not referring to literal fire but rather a spiritual fire. Throughout the Bible, God often reveals himself through fire, symbolizing his dazzling presence. For instance, when God appeared to Moses in a burning bush or when he revealed himself as a consuming fire on Mount Sinai. Jesus desires to bring this burning, exciting, and dynamic presence of God into people's lives.

The Power of God's Fire:

God's fire generates unlimited power in our lives. Just as heat can be transformed into mechanical energy or electricity, the Holy Spirit living within us provides the power we need to live the Christian life. Without this power, we are unable to fulfill our calling. Therefore, we must tend to the fire in our hearts by maintaining a vibrant prayer life, studying the Bible, and engaging in regular fellowship with other believers.

Eliminating Impurities:

God's fire also serves to eliminate impurities in our lives. Just as fire refines gold, the fire of God purifies and cleanses us. It exposes and removes the impurities that hinder our relationship with Him. This refining process can be uncomfortable and challenging, but it is necessary for us to become vessels of honor in God's hands.

Captivating Others:

Fire captivates people's attention. When something is on fire, people are drawn to watch it burn. Similarly, when we are on fire for Jesus, our passion and zeal become a powerful witness to those around us. Our lives radiate the love and joy of Christ, attracting others to Him.

Radiating God's Fire:

Once God's fire is ignited in our hearts, we cannot keep it a secret. Just as an iron bar placed in a blazing furnace becomes hot and glowing, we too become radiant with the love of Jesus. Our transformed lives become a testimony to His power and grace.

Conclusion:

In the Old Testament, God had a physical temple. However, in the New Testament, God's temple is His people. Our bodies are now the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, let us seek to be passionate for Jesus, allowing His fire to burn brightly within us. May our lives reflect His glory and draw others to Him.
