Summary: “If You Only Knew why I praise him like I do ” a testimony of what the Lord has done for you
Psalm 34:1 (KJV)
1
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
TOPIC- IF YOU ONLY KNEW THE REASON WHY I PRAISE HIM LIKE I DO
My brothers and sisters
When we stop and think of the phrase “If You Only Knew”
We come to the conclusion that it is letting someone know
If they could understand something like you understand it.
If they could only experience it like you did
Then maybe they could appreciate it like you do.
You see
If they only knew like you know
Then maybe they could comprehend what you`re saying,
Maybe then they would understand why you praise God the way you do.
In other words
“If You Only Knew why I praise him like I do ”
Is a testimony of what the Lord has done for you
And I wonder if there’s
Anybody in the house this morning /evening
Who have a – If you only knew the reason why I praise Him like I do testimony
And the truth of the matter
We all should have a
If you only knew the reason why I praise him like I do testimony
Because when you think about
How the Lord has
ANSWERED YOUR PRAYERS
LIFTED YOUR BURDENS –
AND THOSE HE DID`NT LIFT HE GAVE
YOU STRENGHT TO BEAR THEM
How THE LORD HAS LED YOU INTO
THE GREEN PASTURES OF PLENTY
AND WALK WITH YOU BESIDES THE STILL WATERS OF PEACE
PREPARED A TABLE BEFORE YOUR HATERS
DRIED YOUR TEARS
MENDED YOUR BROKEN HEART
MADE AWAY OUT OF NO WAY
MADE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR
FOOTSTOOL
( YOU OUGHT TO LOOK OVER AT YOUR NEIGHBOR AND TELL THEM
If you only knew the reason why I praise him like I do
In the text before us
We find one of the most famous and most quoted Psalms.
David pens this psalms while in the cave of Adullam
It was there
That David turns a cave into a cathedral.
And what should have been His cemetery into a sanctuary
By letting us know that his
If you only knew the reason why I praise Him like do
Testimony was personal
Notice what he says
He says “I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth”.
And the first thing that we have understand
Is that his testimony is personal.
David didn’t say
That they need to bless the Lord at all times
And His praise should be in their mouth continually.
But he said I.
He made it personal,
And in order for us to be able to say like David said it
We must have our own personal experience with the Lord.
Notice what he says
“I will bless the Lord at all times.”
In other word
David let`s us know that
Praising God is a powerful act.
It's a declaration of our faith,
A proclamation of our trust,
And a demonstration of our love for Him.
It's a way of acknowledging
-His greatness,
-His goodness,
-And His grace.
And it's a way of connecting with Him on a deep, personal level.
But not only was it a personal testimony
********2nd point (motivated)****
But text reveals it was a motivated testimony
It was motivated because the word bless in the text means
To praise, to congratulate, to salute, or to brag
And I wonder if there anybody in the house this morning
Who can brag on God (repeat 3x)
Let me put a praise token in the praise meter
(And do a praise check)
-Woke you up this morning
- Started you on your way
- Put food on your table
- Clothe on your back
- Roof over your head
- Protected you from dangers seen and unseen
And if the Lord has done anything for you
You ought to stand up on your holy feet
And put your sanctified hands together
And give your neighbor a high 5
(And tell them)
If you only knew the reason why I praise him like do
You see it was a motivated testimony
Because when David was in the Cave of Adullam
He took a trip down memory lane
And reflected
Reminisce
and Remembered
How good the Lord had been to him
How the Lord gave him strength to kill a lion and a bear with his hands
How the Lord gave him victory over goliath and his 4 brothers
How the lord delivered him out of the hands of king Achish
You see the men came to the cave of Adullam
To encourage David
But instead of them encouraging David
David encouraged them
By telling them how good the Lord had been to him
******3rd point (Continuous)******
Well not only was David testimony personal testimony and a motivated testimony
