INTRODUCTION

The topic of Divine Healing has been a subject of controversy in the Church for many, many years. It has been my practice to examine the Scriptures asking Holy Spirit to guide my thoughts and my heart as I search for truth.

I have come to the conclusion through much study and sensitivity to Holy Spirit’s leading that Divine Healing is indeed provided for in the Atonement. What’s more, it’s my sincere belief that if we do not make ourselves available to God for healing, through faith, that we cheapen the sacrifice of Jesus and live way below the place that He has prepared for us.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

I. GRIEF’S AND SORROWS - Did you know that sickness is mentioned in Isaiah 53:4?

Isaiah 53:4 - Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

A. Griefs - The Hebrew word translated "griefs" in this verse is choliy, which means "sickness".

1. The same word in the Hebrew is translated in other verses as sickness 12 times, disease 7 times, grief 4 times and sick 1 time.

2. When it says He bore our griefs it actually means He bore our sickness. Jesus bore our sickness spiritually (sin), mentally (guilt and oppression), and physically (sickness and infirmities).

B. Sorrows - Jesus also carried our sorrows. The Hebrew word for "sorrows" is mak’ob which means "pain, sorrow, pain (physical), pain (mental)”.

1. Jesus took our sickness and bore our pain spiritually, mentally and physically.

II. HEALED - In this same chapter in the book of Isaiah we are told …and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)

A. 1 Peter 2:24 - Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1. You were healed. You are not “being healed” you “were healed” at the Crucifixtion!

2. Your healing was already paid for at the whipping post.

B. When Jesus died two thousand years ago He took your sicknesses, your diseases and your sins.

1. He took them out of the way “nailing them to His Cross” (Col 2:14)

III. WHY DO PEOPLE GET SICK?

A. Have you ever heard, “Well if God is a Healer then how come there are so many sick people in the world?”

1. My answer - Do you know any lost people? If God is a Savior then how come there are so many lost people in the world?

2. Jesus provided for our healing at the crucifixion just like He provided for our salvation.

B. The Key to Receiving is “Faith Activation!” (Speaking - Working the Word)

1. Romans 10:8 - But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

C. The word “saved” in Romans 10:9 is the same Greek word for “healed”.

Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

1. so¯zo¯ - to save, that is, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): - heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

IV. JESUS HEALED ALL THAT WERE SICK

Matthew 8:16-17

16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

A. Jesus bore our sins. He was sinless!

1. Jesus “took” our infirmities and bore our sicknesses at Calvary.

B. So many people can believe that Jesus took their sins but they can’t seem to believe the same of their infirmities!

1. How can you say He took your sins but He didn’t bear your infirmities?

2. Jesus Paid it All! All the sickness, all disease and all the sins you will ever experience. CALVARY COVERS IT ALL!

CLOSING: WE WALK BY FAITH

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

¥ Jesus can do nothing more for you. He has provided salvation, deliverance and healing in the atonement! Everything He can do for you He has already done!

¥ Receive your Manifestation through Faith Activation!

A Faith that is Working Is… a Faith that is Working! (This quote is not a mistake)
