I Can Do It Myself

I can do it myself, it starts when were young and builds from there,

When we learn to walk, tie our shoes, dress ourselves, clean up our room, make our bed, do the laundry, etc.,

our parents try to teach us to have independence and self sufficiency.

While we need to learn independence to do the physical things in life, to do and become good citizens,

Just the opposite, is required in the kingdom of God.

When we become born again, its like starting all over so to speak,

we have to retrain our way of thinking and we should want to accept the challenge of doing so,

Because its not about what we can do any longer, its about what God can do, in and through our lives,

Through what Jesus already did on the cross and the benefits He provided to us, by doing so.

Maybe you have heard the saying in home decorating and some over the top outfits as well, “sometimes less is more”

This is the case, when it comes to the Kingdom of God and receiving all that he has for His Children.

Its not about what you can do any longer, its about learning to depend on what He is capable of doing in and through your life.

Matt 23:37 MSG. Says

How often I've ached to embrace your children, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you wouldn't let me.

Psalm 91

4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Having this kind protection, is not capable of being achieved on our own, but is achievable if we depend on what God is capable of, with no problem at all.

David realized this at a very early age and so should every Christian in their walk with the Lord!

Psalm 17:8

“Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,”

Psalm 57:1

yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.”

Psalm 61:4

“I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

That’s were David’s greatness as a king and warrior came from, from his trust of and dependence on God.

How else would have a 17 year old boy defeated what all of Israel thought was undefeatable?

1st Sam. 17:45 MSG.

David answered, "You come at me with sword and spear and battle-ax. I come at you in the name of God-of-the-Angel-Armies, the God of Israel's troops, whom you curse and mock. This very day God is handing you over to me.

That’s the same way we need to be, not should be, but the same way we Need to be,

if we want to be triumphant over the battles that we come up against on a daily basis,

God wants us to know, we can be!

We have something that David never had, we have Jesus Finished Work on Calvary to depend on,

we have Jesus as our mediator and go between us and God,

we also have the power of God available to us, through the Holy Spirit.

We have everything we need to be successful over anything that comes against us, no matter what it is!

not by our efforts, but by what has been made available to us and provided for us, through the grace that Jesus shed His blood for, to give to us!

Romans 8:1-4 MSG.

1-2.With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ's being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.

3-4.God went for the jugular when he sent his own Son. He didn't deal with the problem as something remote and unimportant. In his Son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition, entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all. The law code, weakened as it always was by fractured human nature, could never have done that.

The law always ended up being used as a Band-Aid on sin instead of a deep healing of it. And now what the law code asked for but we couldn't deliver is accomplished as we, instead of redoubling our own efforts, simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us.
