How To Understand Death On This Side Of Eternity Series

Summary: Only as we include God and His Word can we have peace and hope. Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord.”
Paul spoke of our future home in 2 Corinthians 5:1-2, 6-8. Jesus spoke about our home in Heaven in John 14:1-6.
I have often said, “Life is a continual adjustment, but not for the deceased.” They have made their last adjustment. Hebrews 9:27 says, “Once to die…”
I wonder how many adjustments Martha made.
Home adjustments: appliances, stove, water heater, etc.
Travel: horse and buggy, auto, plane
Clothing: styles have changed.
Food preparation: oven to microwave
If I could leave two words for two thoughts.
I. Remember
1. 2 Peter 1:12-15; 3:1
2. Verse 2; remember God’s grace and peace come through the knowledge of God. Hebrews 4:16
3. Verse 4; precious promises
4. Verses 5-9; add to your faith: feeling touched, faith tested, facts trusted.
5. Verses 10-11: to make your calling and election sure.
6. I remember the only time I visited Martha.
a. Are you sure Heaven’s your home?
b. She said, “Yes!”
II. Rejoice
1. John 11:14-15
2. Rejoice in the promises God gives, John 14:1-6.
3. Rejoice in our confidence, 2 Corinthians 5:1-10.
4. Paul said, “To die is gain.” Philippians 1:21.
5. Steven said in Acts 7:56-60.
6. John said, “New Heaven.” Revelation 21:1-2
