How To Avoid Rape? by: William R. Nabaza of www.Nabaza.com

Genesis 34:1-2: (Contemporary English Version)

Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah, went to visit some of the women who lived there.

She was seen by Hamor's son Shechem, the leader of the Hivites, and he grabbed her and raped her.

Genesis 34:1-2: (New Living Translation)

1 One day Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah, went to visit some of the young women who lived in the area.

2 But when the local prince, Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, saw Dinah, he seized her and raped her.

It's not that easy when you're rape, I've already counseled people who have been raped, it's a process of the mind where you are repeatedly used and abused. It's horrible, I tell you!

Genesis was written by Moses, one of the five books of the Pentateuch, meaning Origins or Beginnings. The first Messianic Promise was found on Genesis 3:15, "And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” Maybe that's why from then on, the enemy was very angry with the woman to destroy her.

Rape usually happens to the female species but in our time and day, it could also happen to a male specie. If you don't belong to either one, check out the bible, male and female He created them (Genesis 1:27), maybe someone created it other than God!

Abuse of rape can be done on the male and on the female. They shouted to Lot, “Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!” (Genesis 19:5) Angels in the form of a male specie almost got raped.

I will be talking about how to avoid rape of a female. In this case, Dinah got raped because of several factors. Now we talk about how to avoid being raped whether you're a male or a female.

NUMBER ONE, REMEMBER IT CAN HAPPEN IN A DAY YOU DON'T EXPECT.

Genesis 34:1 says "One day.." as for Christians GOD is always protecting us. Here are a couple of promises I live with on a daily basis.

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling - even the LORD, who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Deuteronomy 33 v 29:

Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will trample down their high places.

Psalm 27 v 1 & 5:

The LORD is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid? For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 31v 20:

In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.

Psalm 32 v 7:

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

This comes dangerously close to making a rape victim feel as it it is her/his fault. Knowing that most of us have victims of rape who will be listening to our sermons, I would want to make sure that regardless of the circumstances of the rape, the act is one of evil perpetrated on a victim.

thanks for the comment. We can''t change people only they can do this by transforming their lives to conform to the Word of GOD but we have a part to play, that is to keep safe on every circumstances. I have placed considerable biblical proofs, we are not blaming anyone. yes, everything that people does is evil if they are not united with CHRIST. people can''t change people, only GOD can do the impossible.

yes we don''t need to experience the bad things in life because CHRIST already carried the curse for us so we experience His blessings Galatians 3:13-14 but their experiences in the bible is for our own warning and understanding that if we are not in GOD''s will (GOD''s Word) troubles may come and we''re affected but in His Grace of course, we are always protected but if some case happen, don''t put the finger on the rapist or even on GOD, first point it at yourself, if not we do the Adam-Eve-snake pointing fingers again
