INTRODUCTION

In Genesis 5, we see a genealogy of men who lived for hundreds of years, married, had children, and eventually died. Their entire life stories were summed up in a few words: they were born, they lived, they had children, and they died. However, one man, Enoch, stood out. Unlike the rest, he did not just live and die—he walked with God and made an impact. His life was so pleasing to God that he did not see death.

The question we must ask ourselves today is: How old are you? Not just in terms of numbers but in the value and impact of our lives. Are we merely counting years, or are we making our years count? Long after we leave this world, will we be remembered for the good we have done?

1. LIFE IS MORE THAN EXISTENCE

Many people live but never truly impact their generation.

a) The Danger of Living Without Purpose

It is possible to go through life without making a difference (Ecclesiastes 6:3).

b) God Created Us for a Purpose

We are designed to fulfill God's plan (Jeremiah 1:5).

c) Age Without Impact Is Wasted Life

Growing older does not mean fulfilling destiny (Psalm 90:12).

d) Walking with God Brings Fulfillment

A life that pleases God is meaningful (Proverbs 3:5-6).

e) Biblical Example: The Men of Genesis 5

They lived long but left no mark; their only record was birth and death.

2. WALKING WITH GOD MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Enoch stood out because he chose to walk with God.

a) Walking with God Requires Faith

Enoch pleased God through faith (Hebrews 11:5-6).

b) Walking with God Brings Divine Favour

God honours those who seek Him (Psalm 37:23).

c) Walking with God Demands a Holy Life

We must be separate from the world (2 Corinthians 6:17).

d) Walking with God Leads to Eternal Glory

Enoch was taken to heaven without seeing death (John 11:25-26).

e) Biblical Example: Enoch

Unlike the others, Enoch's story was different—he walked with God and was taken alive.

3. WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?

Long after you are gone, what will people say about your life?

a) Some Are Remembered for Evil

Judas Iscariot is remembered for betraying Jesus (Matthew 26:24).

b) Some Are Remembered for Their Faithfulness

Paul is remembered for his dedication to Christ (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

c) Some Are Remembered for Their Impact

The righteous leave a lasting legacy (Proverbs 10:7).

d) God Calls Us to Influence Our Generation

We must shine as lights (Matthew 5:16).

e) Biblical Example: The Proverbs 31 Woman

She was remembered for her good works (Proverbs 31:28-31).

4. KEYS TO LIVING A LIFE OF IMPACT

To make our years count, we must live intentionally.

a) Seek God Early

Commit to God from a young age (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

b) Discover and Fulfill Your Purpose

Live according to God's plan (Ephesians 2:10).

c) Invest in Others

Help and mentor people (2 Timothy 2:2).

d) Live with Eternity in Mind

Store treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-20).

e) Biblical Example: Daniel

Despite living in a foreign land, he influenced nations (Daniel 6:3).

5. YOUR AGE DOES NOT MATTER—YOUR IMPACT DOES

God is not measuring your years but your impact.

a) Some Live Long but Achieve Nothing

Methuselah lived 969 years but left no legacy (Genesis 5:27).

b) Some Live Short but Fulfill Purpose

Jesus lived only 33 years but changed the world (John 19:30).

c) What Matters Is How You Live

Time is a resource that must be used wisely (Ephesians 5:16).

d) Be Intentional About Your Legacy

Live so that your works speak after you (Hebrews 11:4).

e) Biblical Example: Jesus Christ

In a short life, He fulfilled God's greatest plan (Luke 4:18-19).

CONCLUSION

A long life without impact is meaningless. We must not just count our years but ensure our years count. Like Enoch, we must walk with God, influence our generation, and leave a legacy that glorifies God. How old are you? More importantly, how much have you accomplished for God?
