Proverbs 18:12

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility

1. By nature.

Deceitful

Jeremiah 17: 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

2. Opened

To receive the word.

Acts 16: 14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

3. Believing

Unto righteousness

Romans 10: 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Cleaving unto the Lord

Acts 11: 23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

We have to trust Jesus for Salvation Peace Preservation

Salvation

Proverbs 29: 25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

26 Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Peace

Isaiah 26: 3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Preservation

Psalms 61: 7 He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

8 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
