HOW CAN WE SING HERE? Song stealer?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

Our enemy is out to steal our song and your singing ability. Watch the news and try to sing? MAY WE BE ENCOURAGED AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS AND SING… God is going to do something new, get ready for it. Moses is gone. Joshua is taking the reigns…

Joshua 1:2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.

CAN WE SING TODAY? DON’T LISTEN TO THE CAPTIVES HEART? 600 MILES FROM HOME, BY FOOT? THE PAGANS ARE NOT SUGGESTING WE SING… THEY ARE DEMANDING WE SING. DOES GOD’S SONG WORK IN DISTRESS, DEPRESSION AND AFFLICTION?

God’s people were murmuring and complaining, they were insulted by this request. WEEPING WILLOWS?

WOE IS ME! WE ARE INSULTED BY YOUR DEMANDS. Do we recon we can feel the spirit in this mess? We do not feel any hope or joy here? We know the Lord’s songs work in Jerusalem, but we are in the middle of paganism. We understand praise and worship. Is this a proper place and a proper sitting to sing sacred songs? We are miserable our situation is terrible. I think singing songs of God’s mercies are for the “GOOD TIMES?” How can we celebrate, we should be in mouring… GOD’S SONGS WORK ANYWHERE!

Psalm 137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. 3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 4 How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land? 5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

REMEMBER THIS IS NOT HOME HERE… WE ARE BUT PILGRIMS, STRANGERS, LIFE IS A TEMPORARY ARRANGEMENT.

Psalm 137:1 (MSG) Alongside Babylon's rivers we sat on the banks; we cried and cried, remembering the good old days in Zion. 2 Alongside the quaking aspens we stacked our unplayed harps; 3 That's where our captors demanded songs, sarcastic and mocking: "Sing us a happy Zion song!" 4 Oh, how could we ever sing GOD's song in this wasteland? 5 If I ever forget you, Jerusalem, let my fingers wither and fall off like leaves.

Psalm 137:1 (NLT2) Beside the rivers of Babylon, we sat and wept as we thought of Jerusalem. 2 We put away our harps, hanging them on the branches of poplar trees. 3 For our captors demanded a song from us. Our tormentors insisted on a joyful hymn: “Sing us one of those songs of Jerusalem!” 4 But how can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a pagan land? 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget how to play the harp.

PSALMS 137: 1 (Passion) Along the banks of Babylon’s rivers we sat as exiles, mourning our captivity, and wept with great love for Zion. 2Our music and mirth were no longer heard, only sadness. We hung up our harps on the willow trees. 3. Our captors tormented us, saying make music for us and sing one of your happy Zion-songs! 4 But how could we sing the song of the Lord in this foreign wilderness? 5 May my hands never make music again if I ever forget you, O Jerusalem.

WE MUST NEVER ALLOW ANYTHING TO STEAL OUR MUSIC OR OUR SONG.

Lamentations 5:14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick. 15The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.

GOD CREATED THIS WORLD, WE GO UP AND DOWN…ANGELS SING ANYWAY? DO WE SING?

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
