Summary: Our purpose and our relationships

A. Know your purpose.

Too many Christians are living without purpose. Without purpose, there is no direction, there is no motivation, life becomes nothing more than something you endure.

"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me: my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." Acts 20:24

Self is not purpose, not our own Glory.

Our purpose is to bring God glory by living a life that testifies to the grace of Jesus Christ.

Living a life in fellowship with Jesus.

Living a life that loves others.

Living a life of service, as Christ's ambassadors.

Our relationship may change.

Our location may change.

Our way of life change change.

Our purpose should never change!

B. Choose wisely.

Life is full of choices. Time, money, talents.

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you

may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:9-11

Choose sacrifice over self.

Choose forgiveness over feelings.

Choose to get up instead of staying down.

Choose grace over judgement.

Choose what is best over what is good.

C. Maximize your relationships.

Your purpose should permeate every relationship in your life.

Our relationship in the world.

In the world, but not of the world. Jesus prayed for his disciples.

NOT friends of the world. Pray for our world. Go into the world.

Our relationship in our nation.

Living out our purpose in America

All things to all men vs. soldier civilian affairs.

Citizenship in heaven, privilege to live in America. Holy Spirit.

Our relationship to our community

Salt and light. Being a good neighbor.

God has put us in this community for a reason.

Early church had an impact on community.

Food pantry/feeding the homeless, less fortunate/engaging in community

Family

Place if forgiveness. Prophet no honor.

God's design for the family.

Church

No Lone Rangers Christians

We need each other.

Bride of Christ.

Jesus

King of Kings - it's always about Jesus!

Pursue Christ.

Love Him.

Live like Him.
