The older I grow, the more life I experience. I come to believe life is a continual adjustment. All of us here today have a difficult task, adjusting to the remainder of this life without Sue. Let God help us. Hebrews 4:16; Matthew 14:9-12; Luke 8:40; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. Not only does the homegoing of Sue require adjusting, but also a time of evaluation. “We ask at times like this, what is real in life?” or “What is most important in this life?”

I’m sure our family and friends must be a the top of the list. I don’t feel we can fully understand this life until we view life including God and His Word. God is the giver and taker of this earthly life.

I. Home Going as Viewed from God’s Perspective

1. Death or separation of body and soul is the only means God has chosen to transport us from this way of life to our eternal home.

a. Hebrews 9:27

b. Ecclesiastes 8:8

2. Jesus is just keeping His promise with Sue. John 14:1-3

3. Precious in the sight of the Lord.

b. Not precious are the achievements.

4. To die is gain.

a. Philippians 1:21

b. Not loss

c. New home, new body, old friends.

5. Today, trust in the facts of the Word of God concerning God.

II. Home Going According to the Bible is to Remember

1. Take time to build memories.

2. 2 Peter 1:13-15

3. As we remember not only today, but in the times to come. Remember with thanksgiving.

a. Thanks to God for giving Sur to us with her special personality.

b. Thanks to Sue’s parents for building the principles in her life that are so important to us.

c. Thank you Sue for sharing your life with us and teaching us.

III. What Memory do you Want to Leave Behind

1. Just a matter of time before each of us will be in our eternal home.
