Summary: A message for those who are weary in prayer or need challenged to do something great for the Lord

Here Comes the Rain

I Kings 18:41 And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain." 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. 43 "Go and look toward the sea," he told his servant. And he went up and looked. "There is nothing there," he said. Seven times Elijah said, "Go back." 44 The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.'" 45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. 46 The power of the Lord came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

• There are many things we can learn from Elijah and his servant in this passage:

1. The MOMENT {vs 41-43}

a. This was a moment of Scarcity

i. The region had been through 3 ½ years of drought.

ii. Sometimes our relationship with God can seem a bit dry and we need Him to do something new in our lives

b. This was a moment of Success

i. In the verses prior to our text, we see that Elijah had just been used in a great way by the Lord

ii. Don’t settle for only one victory. God wants to do something else in you!

c. This was a moment of Seeking

i. Elijah was in a position of prayer

ii. Great things happen when God’s people pray

2. The MIRACLE {vs 44-45}

a. This miracle required Patience

i. Do you feel like the servant today?

ii. Have you been looking for a miracle over and over again?

b. This miracle had great Potential

i. The cloud was small but it was exactly what Elijah was looking for

ii. Your answer may seem small but God can do great things with it.

3. The MOTION {vs 46}

a. When the rain starts falling, it’s time to GO

i. When the Lord does great things, you are not to sit and soak it all in

b. When the rain starts falling, it’s time to be GREAT

i. It’s time to get on the move and do things you have never done before
