Hear, Watch & Wait

Summary: Proverbs 8:34 speaks about three important things which causes us to be blessed. Hearing, Watching and Waiting. The definition of being Blessed is entirely different the way human mind look at when compared to what the Lord or His Word says.
Proverbs 8: 34 talks about being blessed. The way people look at being blessed is entirely different from the Divine perspective. Blessing of God does not depend nor can be measured upon our material possessions nor our financial balances. It depends upon what is from God and what His Word approves as a blessing.
There are a few points which have been enumerated below:
1. HEAR: Blessed is the one who listens to me (Proverbs 8:34). It requires ears to hear. It is important to understand that our hearing capability plays a vital role in our spiritual lives. Romans 8:17 says that hearing the Word gives birth to faith in our lives. Faith is the foundation of our spiritual lives. Without faith one cannot even be called as saved. Faith is the main ingredient of a Child of God. Unless we hear we cannot develop faith. The more we hear the Word of God the more we develop faith. The story of blind Bartimaeus is a very familiar one. He was blind since birth. Every day he was on the roadside begging. One day he was told that the Lord Jesus Christ was passing by. Immediately, Bartimaeus leaped on his feet and started crying out to the Lord Jesus. His cries attracted the Lord Jesus Christ. He asked Bartimaeus why he was crying to which he replied that he wanted to see since he was blind since birth. The Lord Jesus said, “Go your faith has made you whole.” And immediately Bartimaeus received his sight. From where did he receive his faith? He heard about Jesus everyday and developed faith which he put into action thereby resulting in his miracle. The more we hear the Word the more we are blessed. We should not entertain anything that would hinder our faith or that which would not build our faith.
2. WATCH: The basic meaning of watch is see, view, be vigilant, or observe. Watch daily at my gates. We need to watch in expectation. Watching is also seeing. As ears to hear so is eyes to see. Eyes are also meant to read, study, observe, be alert and so on. Reading the Word plays a vital role in our lives. It is important to know that the Word is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. Everyday we need to read the Word of God in order to enlighten ourselves. The Word of God is not meant to read occasionally but everyday of our lives. Deuteronomy 17:19 says that we need to read it all the days of our lives. The Bible also says that at the entrance of the Word of God there is Light. The Word gives us Hope to which we must have a watch on the happenings. The earlier place where I worked a caption read like this, “keep your mouth shut and eyes open.” Being Vigilant, observant, careful, read and understand the Scriptures plays a very vital role in the Kingdom of God and in one’s life. The Bible also states that the eye is the lamp of the body. In order to keep the body enlightened it is essential to keep the eyes clean. Let us set ourselves right in order to see the Work of God manifest in our lives.
3. WAIT: Waiting is something that everyone hates. I say this with full confidence. The only place where waiting is not wasting is the Presence of God. If we wait for our train we are wasting our time. If we wait for our plane we are wasting our time. If we wait for our friends we are wasting our time. The only place where waiting is benefited is the Presence of God. Waiting comes with lots of benefits in the Kingdom of God. The Scriptural evidences says how important WAITING FOR GOD plays in our lives.
(a) Lamentations 3:25 says that God is good to those who wait upon Him. I love this Scripture. It says that God’s Goodness comes upon those who wait in His Presence. God’s Timing is perfect. He is neither too early nor late. He is on Time.
(b) Isaiah 40:31 says that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. There is a transition that happens when we wait upon Him. His Strength is exchanged for our weakness.
(c) Psalms 40:1, 2 says the He inclined His ear and hears our cries. He is a Prayer answering God.
I always urge the people of God. If we have to wait upon Him there are two important things that are needed (a) Time and (2) Patience.
Even as we inculcate the above points my Prayer is that the Lord bless you abundantly!!!
