Summary: Consider the health of a Christian who only fed upon the Grace of God and Love and Mercy of God.
Healthy Christians
There are things that are basic and important to good health:
Proper food and exercise & rest.
A person who eats only sweets or starches—wouldn’t have good health.
Even a person who eats mostly protein is not healthy.
A person who doesn’t exercise, who lies around…loses use of himself.
Rest is important also to good health.
The same thing is true of healthy Christians.
It takes a well balanced diet and proper exercise and rest.
As a baby we start out on the Milk of God’s word.
I Peter 2:1-2 Therefore laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.
Milk-Faith, repentance, Baptism, resurrection of dead.
Consider the Christian who fed only on milk.
We must go on to stronger foods.
Heb 5: 12-14
Heb 6: 1-3
Consider the health of a Christian who only fed upon the Grace of God and Love and Mercy of God.
John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Eph 2: 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God
Rom 6: 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Like a person who only eats sweet….
Works (person who feeds only on works), but works are necessary to a healthy faith.
(starches)
James 2: 17-18 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead, but someone will say, “You Have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
Judgements and righteousness
(Meats) (like to proteins)
The person who feeds only on judgements and condemnations is not a healthy Christian, but they too are necessary.
Matt 7
I Cor 11: 31-32
I Cor 5: 9-13
I Cor 6: 1-7
James 4: 11-12
Judge doctrines—try the spirits.
Conversation and manner of life.
(Vitamins)
Gal 5: 22-23
Just being a good person doesn’t make one a Christian.
Exercise
I Tim 4: 6-9
Rest---praise and meditation
Ps 104:33-34
James 5:7-9
Phil 4:1-5 “rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice let your moderation be known unto all men the Lord is at hand”
When we get sick we go to the doctor.
When Christians get sick we need a doctor—Christ.
Some people put it off too long.
Given a shot of love, peace, understanding antibiotic (repentance)
Shot of meekness.
More drastic measures (hospital) tragedy in our life
Are you an ill Christian?
Then turn to the Christ today.
