He Is A 2nd Chance God

Summary: God asks us to forgive 7 times 70. Won’t he do the same for us? He gave Jonah a second chance; He will do the same for you.
Ever failed at anything? Ever tried to do something and been unsuccessful? Ever wish you had another chance to do or be or say something? Maybe today you wish you had another chance:
at a job
On a test
In a relationship
With your children
To please God
There is nobody in this house today that hasn’t been given a second chance by God!
God----our God----creator of the universe, Savior, the alpha and omega---He is the God of a 2nd chance.
Matthew 26:69-75 Peter denies Jesus.
Surely denying God would disqualify us from getting a second chance!
Mark 16:1-7
Vs 7 The angel spoke to Mary and said “go tell the disciples and Peter…”
Peter is still a part of God’s plan- Jesus was about to give him a second chance
Acts 2:14 Day of Pentecost Peter stood up with the eleven raised his voice and preached. 3,000 people got saved.
LESSON- FAILURE ISN’T FINAL
You may feel defeated; maybe you’re discouraged and depressed because of your actions. Maybe you have even denied the Lord, as Peter did,
Just remember if God gave Peter a 2nd chance-
He is the same God today as he was then and He will give you a second chance.
Your past failures do not determine your future. Hallelujah!
You can have a second chance today. God will give you victory over: Alcohol,Sexual perversion, divorce, gossip and so much more
Luke 15:11-24 The Prodigal Son illustrates that God is the God of a 2nd chance
When the prodigal returns to the Father’s house
1. He finds his father waiting on him
2. the father runs to met him
3. he hugs and kisses him
4. He is full of compassion
He gives his son
1. a robe
2. a ring
3. some shoes
4. kills the fatted calf
The son is forgiven; RESTORED
He is given a fresh start
He is given a new beginning
LESSON- FAILURE isn’t FINAL
Jonah 1:1 the word of the Lord came to Jonah. Arise, go to Nineveh
Jonah 3:1 the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time….Arise, go to Nineveh
God gave Abraham a 2nd chance
God gave Noah a second chance after getting drunk
He gave David a second chance after adultery
He gave Elijah a second chance
He gave Rahab the prostitute a second chance
He gave Lazarus a second chance at life
Judges 16:28 He gave Samson a second chance
Lord remember me I pray thee and give me my strengthen one more time
(I had it once and forfeited it) please let me have it this second time
Samson killed more of the enemy at his death than all the other times he had fought them off combined.
REMEMBER _FAILURE isn’t FINAL
What do we have to do when God gives us a 2nd chance?
1. Acknowledge our failure
2. confess our sins 1 John 1:9
3. Put it behind you
4. Move forward
5. Learn from it
God hasn’t given up on you
God still has plans for our life
He offers you a second chance today
AS long as there is breath in your body there is hope of a second, third forth chance with God.
